Dumb & Dumber 2-Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels Return

i agree that the cinematography looks flat. it looks like the production budget is very low. seeing all the wrinkles on both actors is IMO proof that the budget is low.

What? Budget is low because they look old? What the hell?
Seriously, it's 20 years later. Jeff Daniels is almost 60!

Pretty bad trailer. It was filled with either a hacky references to the first film or jokes that didn't land. Also some surprisingly vulgar sight gags. I feel like this can go either way; legitimately funny or a total disaster. And I'm a big fan of the original.

Agreed. Can't say I'm a die-hard fan of the original, but I have seen it a few times and enjoyed it.This looks way too vulgar compared to the original.

do i have to make the jokes more obvious? :)

Trailer was terrible. I might have to skip this one. Loved the first one though.

Obviously not. I have no doubt that this sequel will have a bunch of really funny parts, but so do a lot of mediocre comedies.

I still think their biggest mistake as waiting this long to put this film together.

Trailer did nothing for me. I have hope for this movie. Hopefully, like they said, they didn't give away the best parts.

Trailer isn't "iconic" like the first film but was enough to get my GF to make me go see it. As I'm not a huge fan of the original myself I personally think the trailer is meh, but comedy trailers are a pain to make.

If they had waited any longer to make this sequel, we'd probably have ended up with a sad drama about the onset of dementia in two lifelong friends.

I don't know, I just watched it again (second time) and I smiled/chuckled quite a bit. I think we're judging too soon (unsurprising really).

But yeah, the lighting was poop. Hopefully they've still got a lot of post-processing to go.

I'm not sure what to think just yet. I want to like this.

I laughed when they pointed at the guy in the pool, ala the chilli burger scene in the original. :funny:

Yeah, there are many call backs. Like the 'am I right? am I right?' from Harry or the terrarium from the worm business is still in the apartment (like all the same furnitures).
Overall, I see this trailer as a "look, we're back, remember?". But the best bits are still saved for the actual movie (or another trailer along the way). We haven't even seen Laurie Holden which is the other female protagonist. And almost nothing about the daughter. So, I'm staying optimistic about this one. For now.

For those saying "I really wish this were a road trip movie"... It is, isn't it? Going by this trailer, they're on the road, searching for Harry's daughter?

The original movie's best bits came from long, dialogue heavy scenes. This new trailer is like all comedy trailers, quickly paced with nearly nothing but punchlines. I'm sure the movie will be nothing like that.

Exactly. And I get the feeling that a lot of the jokes in the trailer aren't even the actual punchlines or peaks of those scenes. Half the hilarity of the original Dumb and Dumber was how they'd just move right along like nothing was wrong after one of them makes an outrageously dumb comment. A trailer that cuts to the next scene instantly after a throw away one-liner completely undercuts that. If Jim and Jeff still have the same chemistry, then I think the movie is far from doomed. Even if a few jokes try too hard.

Yeah, I've been talking to my friend about the trailer, and we came to the conclusion that what works in Dumb and Dumber can't be properly translated into a trailer.

There's also this kind of light mystery surrounding something they have to find. Mary and what's in the briefcase in the first one, the daughter in this one (we know there are some 'villains' too). A lot of what's good comes from the trip and the point A to Point B to Point C that the road trip genre provides.

So, there's still a lot of ground to cover for a very good sequel.

The first time I set eyes on Mary Swanson, I just got that old fashioned romantic feeling where I'd do anything to bone her.

Trailer was average at best still looking forward to it and are we really
complaining about wrinkles 50+ year old actors :whatever:

So you got fired again, eh?

Oh yeah. They always freak out when you leave the scene of an accident.

Yeah, well, I lost my job, too.

Maaaaan. You are one pathetic loser!
