Those are both writing/directorial choices. Not the editor’s call.It definitely does. To me the ending of the movie is bad. It just ends abruptly. IMHO that's bad editing. Also, to not have Paul ever recite the Litany Against Fear, also bad editing.
If Denis wanted a scene of Paul reciting the Litany Against Fear, he would have put it in the movie. Denis, Spaihts and Roth chose where Part One would end, not Joe Walker. He can only work with what he’s given, and I think he did exquisite work, personally.
