Sci-Fi Dune

The oil analogy is a good one.
Like oil, you can make many things with Spice. Mainly know for it's geriatric power, you can make plastic, fiber to be sewed and many more sub products.
As for Shaddam casting, I don't think they will go with someone young, it will be an actor in his later 40 early 50.

But can you make wine out of oil and mix it with food? Inject in your veins?

I hope Eyes of Ibad won't have bright neon blue glow.

Also, don't forget that Rick Simpson's Organic Cannabis Oil can get you high. ;)

You can make almost everything with oil or its byproducts with a good chemist, that being said, it doesn't mean that it will be good.

Nothing official but some camera assistants have said that Greig Fraser (Rogue One, Zero Dark Thirty) will be the Cinematographer on this.

Zero Dark Thirty had excellent cinematography.

Denis Villeneuve’s Editor Looks Back at That Four-Hour ‘Blade Runner 2049’ Cut, Teases How He’s Approaching ‘Dune’
Next for Villeneuve in his two-part “Dune” adaptation, which Walker won’t confirm or deny he’s working on. Considering Walker has been Villeneuve’s go-to editor since “Sicario,” all signs point to him editing “Dune,” set to star Timothee Chalamet and Rebecca Ferguson. For now, Walker is taking the anti-approach to the source material.

“I’ve kept away from Dune discussions. I want to be fresh. It’s good for me to come in from the outside a little bit and read the script when they’re ready for it and when it comes my way, and that’s not a certainty. I don’t want to overload it to much with the older film and reading the book. I Just want to see see what his vision is.”

Hope he is working on Dune and can do something great with it.

Seriously not a fan of Walker's work with DV films. Especially BR49.

4-hour cut is probably a rough cut. There's no soundtrack for that, FX isn't finished and so on... It's not gonna be released.

As someone whose favorite movie of the decade is Blade Runner 2049, I have no interest in a four hour cut. Releasing that as a theatrical cut would have been irresponsible. The script is 109 pages for God's sake. The current runtime pushed the limit. It's the type of narrative that doesn't demand that length of time. Even if it was an early cut I'm glad they weren't precious about it and knew what had to be cut.

Meh, I never thought about the soundtrack and unfinished FX, so fair enough... :(

OK, so here's a sound choice for Gurney Halleck - Tommy Flanagan!!

It's alright, I think. I wouldn't object for sure. Natural scars give him certain flavor.

Nope. They were originally considering two films, and then started hacking it down. The two movies were originally going to open up on two different eyes opening.

So they finished FX work for two films, wrote the music and then hacked it down?

No, I think it was just the assembly cut. Probably had some previs but that's about it. Don't think it had a score either, at least not by Wallfisch and Zimmer.

After watching the first 4 episodes of the new Jack Ryan series, how would Ali Suliman do for a potential Stilgar? And the actress Dina Shihabi, who played his wife - maybe she can be Harah. Also been thinking about Rutger Hauer as Thufir lately too. :)
