Sci-Fi Dune

Finally got around to watching Lynch's Dune and it took all of five minutes before the voice over stuff started to wear thin.

My current go-to is the Spicediver Dune Alternate Redux. Sure, there are a few deleted scenes inserted into his fanedit but at least the Paul causing Arrakis to rain was removed, lol. And all that voiceover wasn't included either. ;)

What did you think over all? I would be really interested in your take given how much of a Lynch fan you are.

That voice-over gimmick was such a catastrophically bad idea.

I didn't mind the voiceovers....it was the crap not in the book that was inserted in that bugged me. If you have a book so full of stuff that half has to be left out on the movie, why make up **** and put it in instead.

The original version of the film didn't have the voice over stuff and was incomprehensible to anyone who had never read the novel.

Visually? Great.
Everything else? Ehhh...

I can't account for everything that might have gone on behind the scenes, but I just don't think a sci-fi epic plays to Lynch's strengths.

Plus, there are a lot of inner dialogues in the books so the movie used voice over. I liked it AFAIC.

Gemma Arterton should be in everything in my eyes :hmr:.

I think what made her quit Hollywood was that producers always commented on her weight, while not realising (idiotically) that her curves are what make her so attractive.

Eh, Gemma is to blame too. How the hell is she not even going to show up to a Chris Nolan character read? This was for Catwoman by the way. She was also cast as the lead in 'Under The Skin', but the director had to go with Scarjo because he could not find finance with her, which is something TDKR on her resume could've helped with that. Eh.

After learning that Clayton Barber is handling the fight choreography for Season 2 of Iron Fist, it does lead me to wonder what could Barber do for the Weirding Way, should Denis consider him for the movie(s). What Barber has already accomplished with Creed and Black Panther already has been nothing short of sensational. :)

Can he do super fast fighting style with people leaping left and right ? :)

Nice.

I think Baron Harkonnen might be the casting I'm most curious about.

If Villeneuve can hit the trifecta of sci-fi masterpieces I will kneel at his alter.

People are coming with fan-art already:

Ferguson didn't even cross my mind, what a pleasant surprise.
