After watching the first 4 episodes of the new Jack Ryan series, how would Ali Suliman do for a potential Stilgar? And the actress Dina Shihabi, who played his wife - maybe she can be Harah. Also been thinking about Rutger Hauer as Thufir lately too.

Typecasting but he has the physical presence.I was thinking:
Vincent D'Onofrio as Baron Vladimir Harkonnen.
What about Alica Viskanker ? She is slime like a Fremen and can pull off athletic stuff and combat.Zendaya as Chani.
Or a Duncan ?Matt Bomer as Duke Leto I Atreides.
Alice Eve as Princess Irulan.

Hopefully an announcement on whether Roger Deakins will be involved too.

Zendaya as Chani.
Javier Bardem as Emperor Shaddam IV.
Matt Bomer as Duke Leto I Atreides.
Alice Eve as Princess Irulan.
OK, so here's a sound choice for Gurney Halleck - Tommy Flanagan!!

According to the books, Shadam IV looks 36 ( or was it 38 ? ) y/o as does Duke Leto,
The few characters that does look old are Hawat, RM Mohiam, Gurney ( more or less ), Kynes, RM Ramolo, The Baron ( more or less ).
And by Dune standard, no one looks more than 50 or 60 y/o tops, then again, I'd rather like a good actor casting than a bad faithful one ( age wise ).
RM : Reverend Mother.
I don't know, The Baron is gross, disgusting and pervert but he doesn't act over the top, he is a smart and scheming fellow, he is no fool.
Edit : random though about Brian Herbert, the books he wrote with "I don't remember who" are bad, they are almost like Star Wars prequels of badness.
If someone is interested by Dune extended knowledge, buy the Dune Encyclopedia.

I was thinking about Domnhall Gleeson for the role of the Emperor Shaddam. He's currently 35 and he even has the red hair to boot.
Been also thinking about Harry Styles whether he would be a good fit for Feyd as well. And how about Ben Mendelsohn as Count Fenring? Also, how is this for a left-field casting suggestion?! Somebody just suggested Forest Whittaker as Gurney Halleck. Sure, he's not white like in the book but I do think he would look the part.![]()
I'm not good at fan casting but I think B.Mendelsohn as Fenring would be a tad typecasting but thinking about it, he does have a fitting voice and speech mannerism for Fenring's "humming speech".
F.Whittaker is too old for Gurney if you ask me but your suggestion made me though of him as Hawat.

That's all true, he is no fool, but the Baron is obsessed with vengeance and he's pretty crazy ( the best thing about the David Lynch film was Kenneth McMillan's OTT performance as the Baron).
As for the prequel novels, compared to the novel Dune they are a bit like comparing "The Princess and the Dragon " a children's picture book to Lord of the Rings. They just aren't in the same league.
