Sci-Fi Dune

Celluloid Gawd Christopher Nolan's next magnum opus, Denis Viileneuve's Dune & James Cameron's Avatar 2 will contest the technical categories at the 2021 Academy Awards. I don't think there has ever been a better lineup to square up for the top below the line categories in recent memory.

LOL don't be so sure maybe next year AMPAS announces they won't be giving out awards in technical categories awards at all

Screenwriter Eric Roth Discusses ‘Dune,’ ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon,’ Writing For Kurosawa & Bringing New Life To ‘A Star Is Born’

You have your hand in two of the most anticipated upcoming films. What can you tell us about Dune?

Dune was a real challenge; Denis Villeneuve brought me on. I had done some little bits of stuff for him for Arrival, and we really love each other personally. I turned in a really long draft, which I think was pretty cumbersome to make within the budget. I think the ideas were great, and I think they used most of them, but that needed a good look. I think Denis has…brought in another writer to trim it out, and get back to the book in some respects, so I think it’s exciting.

This movie feels more and more like a big event.

Especially after having seen Timothee in "Beautiful Boy"- incredible and moving. A big fan of his.

But it's all the talent they are gathering for 'Dune'

Timothée!
I was really hoping Villeneuve would get a project like this, and it seems like he is being backed with a stellar cast. So much potential here.

Great release date for it over Thanksgiving. Don't think there's really any competition for that November so far. It's theirs to lose.

Is Scorsese’s mythical-deconstruction western coming out next year too?

Can I just skip 2019?

5 bucks says Margot Robbie gets cast as Irulan.

"Yet that princess shall have no more of me than my name. No child of mine nor touch nor softness of glance, nor any instance of desire."

"Brah! WTF?! You be trippin', dawg!"

Who should be cast as Feyd... lovely Feyd...

How about John Cena. Seeing Tim Chalomet facing off against John Cena would make the audience really wonder how will Paul win?

I want Ezra Miller for Feyd. He’d be perfect, and it also might keep him from playing the Flash again. It’s a win-win, lol.

Will they parade Feyd in some spectacular plastic & rubber Y-winged fronts? That would be a sight to behold.

That bit from the 80s film was certainly a master class error in costume design

Denis never disappoints when it comes to casting. I’m just worried this will become another large budget passion project that’ll not be accepted by the general audience—I hope I’m wrong.

I have no issue with Feyd being a bit older and filled out than Paul, helps with the traditional Paul-as-underdog status. But Cena is way old, it's showing in his face now, like he could be Paul's dad. Take any good young Cobra-Kai-looking actor and feed him creatine instead.

Dastmalchian as Piter is interesting. He can bring peculiar and intense performance without chewing a scene. Denis keeps the tradition of casting him in roles that die horrible death.
