Sci-Fi Dune

Was that shot of Jason removing his glove not in the trailer of have I blacked out lol

Dune trailer was... Fine.

I mean... I didn't expect the trailer to do more than show me the visuals in motion. Hard to capture this story in a 3 minute collage of clips.

The production design is tops and it looks well cast. So... Yeah.

Just a smidge of worry that Dennis has potentially fallen into a similar trap Lynch did, but... Gonna have to wait to actually see that is so or not.

I don’t like how visually dark it is. It reminds me of Chronicles of Riddick. The cast is stacked though. Should have highlighted some females in the trailer so it doesn’t look like such a sausage fest.

Dark? I hardly think it was too much so. It seemed to follow the tone of the book, which didn't have a single moment of levity. As far as females: Lady Jessica, Chani, the Mother Reverend. They did a good job, though maybe a bit more of the new Liet Kynes.

It was fine. Didn't blow me away. I think the music in the first half was good, but that music cue in the last part was a real turnoff to me.

I hope Denis Villeneuve properly captures the thematic material and meaning of the source and doesn't muck around with it.

"May thy knife chip and shatter" better be in the movie.

At least the litany of fear appears to be in it.

The music is amazing

Is this the original movie soundtrack by Hans Zimmer?

I don't think so, this is a remix of "Eclipse" by Pink Floyd.

They used a cover of Pink Floyd's Eclipse. Honestly, if you're gonna use Pink Floyd, just go to the source.

Absolutely !
Also, the last movie that used a Pink Floyd remix in its marketing was The New Mutants, so...
I'm kidding. The movie looks promising, but I feel like the trailer wasn't as well made as it could.

Yeah, that worked a little better because at least the chorus is kids. But for God's sake, you can't top Dark Side of the Moon's songs with a cover. It's timeless. Not to mention Torry's mind blowing vocals that helps convey the scope of it all.

I think the trailer hid a really great movie. It didn't really do it a service by bringing out the best of it. I don't think this is gonna convince Joe the Plumber movie-goer to see it during a pandemic.

Visually looks great. I like the look of the ornithopters and the other vehicles. Duncan Idaho definitely looks like he's been expanded/tweaked into "Jason Momoa Character". For not having been impressed with Chalamet yet, he looks fine so far. They seem to be playing up the Paul/Chani love story.

Slightly disappointed we still didn't get more than a fleeting glimpse of Baron Harkonnen. Really curious about Skarsgard's full appearance.

Agree, I was hoping to see him on suspensors, maybe in another trailer or clip.

I feel like using the original "The Great Gig in The Sky" by Pink Floyd would habe been a better musical choice, more il line with the scope of this great Sci-Fi fresco.

Not going to lie, but the trailer did nothing for me. As someone who has never read the book, I worry this will be a box office flop—similar to John Carter or Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. I kind of wish they showed less, kind of like the first Blade Runner 2049 trailer.

So it ends up being a flop like Blade Runner 2049?

I’m surprised they still have it slated for release this year. This movie is going to have a very difficult time being profitable in these pandemic times especially since Villeneuve isn’t as big a name as Chris Nolan, and doesn’t have nearly as strong a box office record(Blade Runner 2049 flopped for example.
