Sci-Fi Dune

Watched the trailer 10 more times or so. I think it's my favorite trailer of recent. I liked it even more than the Batman one, which was also damn great.

Need HQ version of it.
For me, batman wins just cuz i liked the score more. But this is a close second. Its just so beautiful, im gonna watch it for days.

Okay, I know I've griped a bit about the costumes but after seeing that trailer, I'm sorry I ever doubted Villaneuve. This looks magnificent. The worm looks more amazing that I hoped it could be. And the shields are great; wasn't sure how they would do that but they pulled it off.

Wow. Just. WOW.

But as much as I want to see this movie now, my hope is that WB delays it to the point where it can be shown safely in theaters. Because this movie clearly cost a lot of money and they need to make all of it back and then some to finish the story. So releasing it at a time when theaters are still closed or releasing it online might mean we never get the second half. And that would be a crime if this thing is as good as it looks.

It looks interesting enough, even though I really don't see what the big deal is about Chalamet. He has yet to impress me in anything I've seen him in so maybe this will change my mind. Either way, I'll be there for Momoa, Ferguson, Isaac and Brolin.

Considering Jihad is a trigger word that sets the NSA off like attack dogs its understandable that it wasn't used.

Yes but it's still lame to use crusade instead of Jihad.
The use of foreign words in the book is one of the thing that make it special for me.

Watching Q&A. Much more footage and Rebecca Ferguson is heart-melting there.

It’s sad... how we romanticize crusades here. Which is terrible, considering what crusades have done to countless of innocent non-white people through centuries.

I loved learning new terms and uses of past histories, I’m sadly foreign to or haven’t had the chance to learn, thanks to Herbert.

Also, Chani calls Paul - Paul and not Usul.

That might be just for the trailer to not confuse people.
In the movie maybe she will say "Usul" but chances are the naming of Paul will be scrapped all together and he will just be Paul Muad'Dib, no private name.

I'm a Nirvana fan myself, so it was a huge bonus point. But I'm just loving the scope of the Dune trailer. Music is fine. The cast is amazing and I'm just longing for a big budget sci-fi story that doesn't require for me to suspend my disbelief for 90% of runtime.

Their reaction to the trailer was precious

I love how they did the worms, though I did notice a distinct change from the books: the worm teeth are used by the Fremen as hand blades, as is. The teeth we see here are massively long, making them better used as swords, long ones at that. Still, the worms really do look great.

Ffs. If things aren't better for theaters by November they arent getting better anytime soon. Accept it, Hollywood. You're going to be in the red for the foreseeable future. You'll survive. Im sure you've got plenty of executives that can afford a steep pay cut.

Wondering if Feyd Rautha will be in Villeneuve’s adaptation?

Feyd doesn't seem to be in this movie, but presumably the sequel (if there ever is one).

Didn't realised that Villeneuve is planning sequels. It make sense especially with the scope in Herbert's book.

Where is David Dastmalchian in the cast list though, he was in Ant-Man and 2 DV movies and TDK
