By all accounts, it seems they should’ve posted this a week or so ago, but still nice to see.

It was reported that earlier shooting in the beginning of the month was supposed to be preliminary filming and that proper production was to start July 21. I guess they started a few days earlier.

Apparently Part 2 barely dodged a bullet in the long list of WB cancelations. That's what I'm reading on here anyway. I would never have forgiven them if they canceled this movie. Guess I'll have to drag all my friends and relatives to Part 2 a few times again.

I'm hoping the prestige around Dune Part 1 will help there. Plus Dune Part 2 was already sold as being a bit more action heavy.

Dune won six academy awards and got a lot of critical acclaim. Part 1 did ok box office numbers that could build to even higher for a more action heavy part two. WB would be foolish to pull the plug on Dune.

Also Legendary is probably financing 75% of the budget like they did with the first part.

They wont cancel Dune 2, but if it wont perform good, part 3 will.

Honestly, just wish they'd add Messiah in as an additional 45 minute appendix to Dune Part II. Then let Denis be the EP for Children Of Dune/God Empire Of Dune adaptions as 6-8 episode seasons on HBO.

They've already greenlit it twice without making much progress. I do hope it sees the light of day, but honestly not holding my breath. There were some rumors of filming dates a while back, but we'll see.

I think the fact that this isn't the first Dune installment will help. Plus the more 'action-focused' stuff.

Not sure he can. The rights are owned by Legendary and they are footing most of the bill, probably guaranteeing Denis have final cut. We know he obviously did with the first one.
Legendary owning the tv and film rights is the only thing giving me hope, WB is just a distributor for them.

Last thing I heard a couple of months ago is that it would start production in September. Given everything that is happening and the fact that there has been radio silence since then, I doubt that's happening anymore.

I'll finish Harley Q season 3 then cancel HBO Max. Discovery has already started pulling WB films off the service.
