So.....if he wasn't the one who killed his family....then why is he doing the 12 Labors?

New trailer looks great.

Big improvement over the first one, though they're still having trouble making "I AM HERCULES!" sound as cool as it should.

Overall, it still looks like it'll be better than "The Legend of Hercules".

The movie isn't as fantastical as the trailer makes it out to be.

The gods always killed his family in every version I've ever read. Sometimes he was driven mad by his mother to do it, though that is technically his mom just using him as an instrument. Perhaps he is set up and they think he did it, or he does the labors out of guilt rather then a punishment by someone else. Either way I do not see it being a big plot point to the film as to how they died.

You mean his step-mother Hera, not his actual mother, right?

Thats the narrative through-line. Rock described it as a very angst ridden and devastated Hercules still feeling guilty that he killed his family. Only to find out that someone else was responsible and then the movie basically transforms into a revenge story.

So it is a big plot point how they died.

i wonder if Ratner is aware of the Gladiator shots?

So I'm not crazy. I was getting a Gladiator vibe, but wasn't sure why cause this doesn't look like it's anywhere near the class of that film.

I might watch the film at a bargain showing if nothing more interesting is playing or if I'm not broke that week or if the reviews aren't awful.

Sounds like a fun movie then! I'm only going by the trailer so sorry for the confusion.

Not exactly a difficult task, this movie looks so good to me but I have a feeling its going to suck. I would love to be surprised but little tidbits like the Rock saving that guy who was waiting to die just give me that ohhhh Ratner feeling.

True enough, and I'm actually trying not to get too hyped, as I remember all too well that the Scorpion King looked cool judging by its trailer and the actual film was... meh, albeit meh with a few genuinely funny moments.

I know that Hera is the one is ultimately at fault in that situation, but the whole point of the Labors was to reconcile his part in the situation.

I've met so many people who don't understand this that I just kinda go into fact mode. Sorry if I offended. We will have to see how it is handled in the film. I hope it is him gone mad though, I'd like to see that done on film.

They should have had him in full hobbs mode(ala fast 5, not 6) for this film. Herc has been interpreted as a brute and such, a film with that sort of characterization would have been something to behold. Ah well, here's hoping.

I think it'll be decent,Not an instant classic but not so horrible,At least better than Scorpion King/the last Connan and Immortals..Which is not saying too much but it's something.

I just hope the film doesn't flop cause I really wish success for Rock in Hollywood as a leading star

What is the remix of No One Knows called in the newest trailer?

I think it will do as well as Wrath of the Titans. Rock works better in an ensemble, not as the sole lead. Add to the fact this is a "historical" piece, I don't think audiences will go for it.

I'm so excited for this, gonna be bad ass.

I feel like I haven't seen any marketing for this.

Agreed Moose. It feels like the final cut led the studio to think they'd best cut their losses and give minimal push for it. I was rather looking forward to it, but none of the trailers or tv spots has made it look anything but over the top cheesy in the worst possible way. The beard and hair on Johnson looks Uber fake. I liked the black and white chariot shot of him, but seeing him in color isn't as impressive. Actually, doing a film like this in black and white might have helped.
Ah well. I hope MARVEL gets to bringing their Herc to the screen some day.

I'm actually looking forward to this, although i won't be paying any money to see it (wait until it comes on cable). I took a Greek mythology class last semester, so it's cool seeing all the adventures i read Hercules go though live on screen.
