Well it's hard to say how does one define the word poorly.

Spoilers:
For example, i thought it was poorly played how they sort of "twist" how John Hurt's character is a megalomaniac and that Rheusus is actually a freedom fighter as twists, the movie first tries to show Thrace as this honorable city, with Hera as their goddess and everything. Don't even get me started on them worshipping Hera, but my point is:

Why did they go the "Hollywood" route? Why not just show Thracians as these savages, with Rhesus as a freedom fighter and Hercules simply not giving a damn? In the comic (yeah look at me, i'm so elitist, using the source material as an argument) John Hurt's character betrays Hercules when Hercules learns of John Hurt's character's plans to attack Mount Olympus.

I also didn't like the fight with the tattooed people's conclusion, with them using the cavalry at the last moment with those really cartoonish blades. I thought it was poorly done and it was a miracle it didn't have any accidently friendly fire going on.

So, in the comic he really is the son of Zeus?

Executive: "Hey, lets make a Hercules movie, but make it realistic and remove all that mythology stuff."

What he's really saying: "Hey, let's make a Hercules movie, and remove everything that makes it fun or interesting."

I thought it was made incredibly clear by the end of the film that he was the son of his Zeus, what happened in the labors was true, & he was a demi-God.

I like how you're everywhere where there's something pertaining to Dwayne or Ratner to say how much you hate them and how much you want them to fail. :o

We get it...you're a hater. But it's annoying so stop it. There are directors and actors I dislike but I'm not all through their threads spewing hatred towards them.

I tried reading through this thread but couldn't make it far because of how annoying your comments became. Opinions are fine, but Jesus Christ man, give it a rest already.
No.

Sad, really. Just shows how immature you are that you'll continue to appear in threads pertaining to movies & people you don't dislike just to let everyone know how jealous you are of them.

Very childish, actually.

Totes jealous of this film. I wish I could make terrible movies that don't make a profit. That's what the Brett Ratner school of filmmaking is for!

And yet he still continues to get work while you sit behind a computer screen complaining about his movies that you don't like but take the time to watch. Oh yeah, that's supreme logic right there. :halo:

Either way, I'm done with you since I can see discussing anything with you is beyond pointless.

Yeahn it's never even put onto question.

His labors can't be true since the Hydra we're just
bandits with snake armor

Interesting. I've only read the first issue of it on Comixology. But, I don't remember if was brought up. I'll have to check it out again.

It's just my own personal theory, but I was always under the impression that
certain feats were shown from certain perspectives and what have you to put into question the truth behind them.

I think there's some truth to his labors, especially considering Ian McShane's character speaks as if he's interacted with them in some way that would certify the mystical aspect to Greece was true.

And it just seemed to me that Hercules was very nonchalant when downplaying his feats, to the point that his words were spoken in a manner where it didn't seem like even he believed them.

The idea I got from the movie was that he was in a similar state as Perseus from the COTT remake where he wasn't really willing to accept his Godhood but when he did he was able to really pull off spectacular things.

Just watched this. Not too bad! I was expecting the worst. The action was pretty exciting.

Yeah, I've recently had the chance to go back & watch it several times on DVD and it holds up pretty well. I enjoy the action even more than before, largely because you can actually decipher what's going on at each moment.

Probably one of my favorite performances from the Rock and this movie does show his growth as an actor (imo, anyway).
