E3 2009

the only thing Ive heard Sessler says he can't stand are the deluge of anime based games, card battle games, and RPGs

Reminds me of Yahtzee, who does have his own op/ed-style review show. Anytime he reviews a JRPG, I smile because I know it's gonna be even more fun than his usual reviews. He really gets creative when he has to insult something as viciously as he does JRPGs. :D

His Duke Nukem Forever review is priceless!

I love Zero Punctuation....his COD4 review is fantastic...

"It's a gun whack but it's an above average gun whack"

He posted a letter of the week from the Duke Nukem Forever review at the end of this week's review. Someone actually wrote him asking where he got a copy of Duke Nukem Forever.

could you provide a link?

Sure, lemme just sift through hours upon hours of live footage of him at various conventions, as well as look through the piles upon piles of articles and interviews the guys had since Halo 3 came out.

If you wanna find it, it's out there. Ask around on the g4 boards if you really don't believe me, they'll probably find it in a few seconds cause some of them just store the "we hate this guy" material for purposes of that reason.

Really? Jesus, I can't imagine someone hating someone like that, that they've never met. Crazy.

Hate fuels a lot of strange behavior. These are generally the same people who make death threats to writers when someone kills off their favorite character on a TV show.

However, he also claims he's not a coke head when anyone that watches him for more than 2 minutes can tell that he is, or is going through serious withdrawls.

It's LA....1 in 3 people do coke

he could just have some serious ADD going on

Let me put my love for Yahtzee's reviews also...the dude is hilarious.

I even laugh when he blasts a game that I love. Such as his review of SSBB was absolutely hilarious. :D

And as for JRPGs, lets just say, I cannot wait for his review of FFXIII.

Yeah, they're more entertainment than reviews for me at this point, although Yahtzee does have a knack for pointing out specific flaws in a game. I just think he's a little too intolerant of some things to take seriously. Yeah, we know shooters generally have the same boring plot and character elements across the board, but that doesn't mean they can't be enjoyable without testing the storytelling limits of the genre.

Me too

I want to play the game, not hit random buttons to watch the computer do all the cool stuff. :cmad:

Yeah, **** happens. Back on another site I used to mod there were a few kids that were absolutely insane with how much they "hated" me. It was to a point where it was actually a obsessive over how much they hated me for no real reason other than I was a figure of power.

I dunno man, ADD normally doesn't mean you lick your gums every 10 seconds.

He must spend a lot of money on hookers then;).

Support of the controller for games isn't going to stop. They're not pulling a Wii and forcing everything to be motion capped, they're giving companies the option to add motion capturing to their games without having to forsake the controller. And example of how it "should" work;

Playing FPS with controller - want to give squad commands. Take right hand off buttons, map opens. Manipulate map with gestures / pointing and give order. Hand back on pad, map closes. Entire process - 2 seconds?

Or use binoculars or something in a game:

Now - open inventory or scroll to the right item with bumpers or something. Press button to select binocs. Press button to use binocs. When done, press button to stop using, and another button to return to gun.

Natal - hold thumb and forefinger around eye (just an example, Milo recognises this). When done, stop doing that.

Just the voice recognition alone being incorporated into games as a whole could be mind blowing.

Obviously, the Natal can't replace the controller, and the insinuation of it is a bit silly. How would an FPS be played? An RPG? How about a Racing Game? How would you control that with the Natal?

Will those games suddenly disappear? Even though they have an audience fans, skilled talented devoted developers, a market and etcetera? No. They won't.

He's just trying to be entertaining. We don't watch him to be tolerant.

Has anyone every played Yahtzee's games?

They're not half bad.

The backroom demo of the Natal system had Burnout Paradise as one of the demos. You hold your hands out like you're holding a wheel and just turn and it turns for you. Move your right foot forward to accelerate, move it backwards from your base position to brake. Is it perfect? Not by a long shot, but it's something.

Okay I haven't been keeping up much with E3 and I was wondering

-Has Capcom announced the new game they were working on?

-It was said that Square Enix had three unannounced titles and they said that fans of their two greatest series would be happy. Have those games been announced?

I don't think Capcom has announced anything, but I could be wrong. Which is too bad, I was really looking forward to hearing from them.

Squeenix announced Final Fantasy XIV and a new Cyrstal Chronicles games.
