Early Reviews.

There is something I didn't understand about the movie. Now I don't know much about the Ghost Rider lore but isn't he pretty much powerless during daylight? Because the last few mins of the movie during the chase and fight scenes Ghost Rider is riding around during the day. I was like WTF when did he gain that ablity?

Everyone knows this flick is getting ripped. With that said, rewatch the first so you'll get a fresh taste of how bad it is. Then go watch the 2nd with low expectations.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much better this was than the first flick. It was decent with a much darker tone. The Rider was much improved in every way, IMO. The movie was slow in parts and you just felt like you didn't see the actual GR enough. It's not Green Lantern bad, the first GR was, but this one was decent.

Someone else described it as having a slight B-movie feel to it. I would say that is accurate..

6.5/10

Just got back from seeing this. Wow. What a piece of garbage. It really stunk up the joint. You know Nic Cage is laughing at all of us. Daredevil was better than this and that is saying something.

I don't care what anyone says,
that scene where Ghost Rider was shot into the air and smashed back into the ground by that sting missile is amazing.

I don't read Ghost Rider comics, but what the hell was he such a schizophrenic psychopath in this movie?

Why did he stand there bobbing back and forth before making his move? Why did he stop in mid-air and spin around like that? Why did Nick Cage say "Merry Christmas, *******s!"?

...Jesus, this movie sucked. Easily one of the worst comic book movies ever made.

Well, the movie improved from the first, but, to be honest, it's still a C+ movie.

But, to me, Nicolas Cage seems to have been on drug influence during all the movie, and Ciarán Hinds was really bad as a grimacing and very cheesy devil. He wasn't creepy and threatening at all past his first sequence.

That being said, it wasn't a really bad movie like the first one.

Not necessarily, I've disagreed with several positive reviews about films that I like.

Its getting hammered at the box office. Already started to pull it!!!!

^Yep it came in at number 3 when it was expected to be number one. The budget was sliced in half so it won't lose Sony any money but the series is dead now because it has lost too much of it's audience.

What really killed the film was the 5 year gap, the poor reception of the first film and the fact that Cage is no longer the big star he used to be.

Double ouch....noticed that too. They already took some showing times out at a local theater since last Friday. Attendance must really be bad...

Oh well ...what else do you expect when you use a c- script, take out 90% of the violent/GR stuff from it, rush the production simply so you can hold on to the rights, and cut the production budget.

The only thing im hoping for is that maybe in a few years Marvel might get serious about the character again and pursue a much darker/violent version in animated form. Its just too costly for this character to be done properly on film...

Yet if it was a movie you liked... you'd be in total agreement with them.

You say they don't know ****. They would say you don't know ****.

I don't ever listen to critics of movies, good or bad. I spend my money solely based on what I want to see. Everyone has an opinion after all and nobody's opinion is exactly the same. These well known critics can make a break a movie with their holier than though reviews and I think it's ********. If you find a movie interesting, go see it. Don't not go because some idiot with a laptop writes about it. That's what I think anyway.

Better catch it quick before it's gone
It'll have two weeks of good theatrical coverage. That is a typcial contract stipulation, especially when it opens on 3,000 screens.
It'll be in theaters for 4-6 weeks based on how it's drops are.

With a $57m budget and having already made $25.7m it's not outside the realm of reason this does alright in the long run. Even if domestically it never quite matches it's production budget. It's worldwide total is likely to be over $100m. For that Sony may want to do another to hold onto the rights either a)complete a trilogy and/or b)reboot it

Where did this 57 Mil budget from Box Office mojo come from? I've heard $75-80 Million.

A source at Sony claims he accidentely swapped the numbers around... so the budget is actually $57 Mil not $75 Million.

Makes sense cause the first report I heard months ago was about $60m.
Typo.

If GR3 with Cage happens it'll be a bit funny in a way.

Let's face it if it goes back to Marvel nothing is likely to happen soon with the property. They've made no mention of what they may do with Blade or Punisher. They are focused on Avengers movies just like the comic division is focused on Avengers. It's all Avengers , all the time at Marvel comics/Marvel Studios.
Don't wish it back to Marvel so quickly. Same goes for DD and FF at Fox as far as I'm concerned.

As mediocre as they maybe perhaps third time will the the charm.

Well a few months ago the directors did say the budget of the film was exaggerated, they said it was closer to Gamer's budget which was 50 million.

wow.....just wow.

This was the most over-the-top I have ever seen Cage.

What the hell was with the scene where he was driving through the tunnel screaming and having the skull show up on diff parts of his face.

And WHAT THE HELL was with him floating on his back in circles after being blown up?!?!?

I thought this would be great cause I love the Crank movies and thought they would be the perfect directors for this movie.....I was WAY wrong :(

I got back from seeing this last night and thought it was crap. However Crazy Cage was on form, as a great fan of Cage i thought he was the best thing about it, the story was good, not complex just simple fun, a snippet of the many adventures Blaze has with the Rider.

What i think ruined, no... destroyed this film was Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. I love Crank, it's a film you watch to pretty much see GTA in movie form, it's fun.

Ghost Rider shouldn't be that kind of film and their 'style' didn't fit and took you out of the film.

I thought Cage's Blaze worked fairly well, especially his speech about how it was clawing to get out to eat that dudes soul. That would have been quite threatening, something i think Goyer wanted in his script (it was intended to be R right?). Anyway, directors blew it, wasting their time making this when they should've been making Crank 3.

Ghost Rider 3, w/ Cage. Do it properly, keep the tone of the first but the action and the Rider of the second. I loved the Rider in this, creepy and very demonic like.

I'm split in rating the film because i can see how great it could have been and can only blame the directors for what we got. So storywise and cage wise it was a good 7/8 out of 10. But overall..because of the style it has to be a 4/5 out of ten.

I would like to discuss about something no one talked about yet here.

What did you think of the "fight" between GR and Blackout ?

I thought it was much better than the fight between GR and Blackheart. Yes it was pretty quick, but GR didn't even trade blows with Blackheart (I don't count throwing piles of burning rock).

I did enjoy the hellfire shotgun :).
