Easy Racing Games for the PS3?

I'm trying to find more games for my dad to play. He mostly likes racing games. But he also thinks that consoles since the original Nintendo have too many buttons and he isn't one to want a lot of options.

So any suggestions for easy racing games that you don't have to tune up the cars or mess with too much accessory jazz?

I've already got him Motorstorm 1 and 2, but was hoping to find more that he could easily play so they won't go to waste.

I'll say it'd be a good idea to not get Wipeout HD. That game (atleast IMO) is seriously hard. I found it harder to steer than the Gran Tourismo 5 demo, which also gave me a lot of trouble (I think I'm getting progressively worse at racers, I used to be decent at them).


I'm not sure if realism is a deal breaker or not, but Modnation Racers does come out next month. Even tho it's LBP meets Mariokart, it is a kart game, which are usually an overall fun and easy racing genre. You can make a character and tracks, but you don't have to. I'm sure there'll be a random character generator, or you can download characters from other players, and just play their tracks.

Past that...I'm not sure honestly. You already named Motorstorm, and I've yet to play the other big one ppl usually talk about, Burnout Paradise.

Thanks for the advice I'll look out for Modnation Racers as I haven't heard of that. I did try that Sonic and Sega Allstars Racing demo and that might be a good one for me to get for him as well. That also reminds me of Mario Kart.

And thanks for letting me know about not going for Wipeout. It's just as important, if not more so, to know what games Not to get. Thanks again.

Glad if it helped any. Just to clarify tho, Wipeout HD is a good game, and a graphical beauty...it's just hard (for me atleast). I can finish first in games like Motorstorm, but outside of the first few easier levels I struggle to not finish last. The AI is so good that 1 crash equals last place. That's not even counting if someone hits you with a weapon, you miss a speed boost or two, or if your racer blows up. Online might even be harder lol.



As for Modnation, there are development, and gameplay videos on the Playstation store.

If he doesn't care about realism then I'd throw in Ridge Racer 7, that is a pure arcade racer that is very easy to play around with. You can finish a whole race without even needing to touch the handbrake. The graphics are pretty nice too.

I would recccomend the aforementioned Burnout:Paradise. I'm not the best when it comes to games that require fast reflexes, but I've found B:P to be relatively easy. And it's quite a bit of fun, lots of stuff to see and do, Decent graphics. You should be able to find it relatively cheap, and there's a bunch of additional downloadable content online on the PS store.
