Eddie Murphy is Dolemite in Netflix's Rudy Ray Moore biopic

They should of got Ernie Hudson for a cameo since he was in the Dolemite sequel. It was one of Hudson's earliest roles.

Cant post a trailer for Dolemite in the forums but they can post a Redband trailer for Deadpool on the front page

This.

Snipes and Murphy both look pretty great in this .

Welp. Time to put on my racism cape. Because I swear I better see the same attitude towards ALL inappropriate trailers.

Brb. Going trailer hunting.

Seems subjective. Honestly where are the rules? I cant seem to find them. I know there here somewhere. I need to know why Once upon a time in hollywoods trailer is fine but this trailer isnt. Is there a bad language limit? Are certain swear words acceptable? Before I go on my crusade I'd like to be sure where I stand.

I'm just glad to see Eddie Murphy back.

They are also going to throw a fit when they find out that the director is white.

I think the general guideline is if the language is allowed in a PG-13 movie. A lot of movies with Red Band trailers get discussed, even if the red band trailer isn't posted on the forum. Even if it is posted on the main site.

A lot of discussion about red band trailers that are easy to find rather than the film itself...

Michael Jai Black Dynamite should have been in this movie

I hope that the film is getting wide release besides Netflix. I guess it will open in New York and Los Angeles but it needs to open in other cities as well.

At 97% now with 38 reviews. So glad Eddie is back. I hope I can get tickets to his stand-up tour next year.

Movie is getting no love. It's at 98 at RT with a 7.86 average. It's a beast.

Watched this on Netflix. It was good if not a tad predictable. Eddie is good but you never doubt that his Dolemite will succeed. It really did remind me of Melvin Van Peebles Baaadaaas, which I highly recommend.

But this movie is funny and entertaining. And it’s good to see Eddie back in a good role.

Completely forgot this dropped today. I'll be sure to check it out sometime next week

This legit might be my favourite movie of the year. I am so happy to see Eddie Murphy back to his best.

Its in my top 5. Haven't seen the oscar contenders yet though.

I was smiling from beginning to end. Legit the happiest movie I've seen in a long time. And Murphy is so good in it. He should get an Oscar nomination for this for sure, if not an outright win.

He's got two problems.

Phoenix has the performance of the year.

Netflix is currently pushing Adam Driver for Marriage Story for best actor.

We all know the Academy likes a narrative around its winners, and there's no better narrative than Eddie Murphy's return to form. Phoenix is really good in a film that I think is overall overrated in its execution. I think Dolemite is as well crafted a movie as you'll get this year, the acting is great, cinematography is very warm and bright, the costume design is fantastic, that all lends into Murphy's favour.
