EEKK: The 5 Most Horrifying Bugs in the World

you morality police turn it into a holier-than-thou attack on people who are different than you are.

The absurd idea that some people "can't" be funny without using profanity, when in reality, the people with the limited vocabulary are you people, who deem some words unusable.
Just because you enjoy some word choices, it doesn't mean that you're limited to them.

How many words are in that article??

How many of those words are profanities??

He can express himself and be amusing JUST fine. :whatever:
The guy could've said "it's 'I hope I don't crap my spine out.'" or something, and then it wouldn't be bad or gross anymore?!
He paints a colorful, amusing picture to evoke extremity.

Why don't you just ignore the word, if you don't like it? As everyone tells me to do with foul Christian proselytizing here?

But no, you have to attack people, as PEOPLE, as persons, because they don't talk exactly as you do and because they have a verbal freedom your Puritanical, superstitious minds will never enjoy. :o

Hype Double Standard...this is about scary bugs, but you'll get away with the personal attacks, and insults and the bigotry, because you're attacking people that lie outside your cozy, smug, majority. :o

Oh for god's sake.

I didn't say anything about "people who can't be funny without using profanity" - the comments were about the article itself, not the writer. And YES, the internet is FULL of borderline-funny writers who try to pep up their weak material with more profanity than would be used in casual conversation. To suggest otherwise is totally R.E.T.A.R.D.E.D.

However, there are other writers who use the excess profanity to their advantage. You just don't see normally see those rare writers cranking out articles for Cracked or Penny Arcade.

I think the mod's comment was more pointing out the profanity as a warning to those who click the link, since the language in that article would not be allowed to be posted in this forum.

I know. The egg-guy did.
the egg guy said:
It seemed they wanted to be funny rather than informative. Pity some people can't do that without F'in and jef'in :whatever:
See, he can be funny without profanity, using egg-themed puns.
If only this writer had a more highly developed pun-sense.
There were so many possibilities. :(
"Don't BUG out when you hear about this next one!"
"Larvae eating my brain really BUGS me."

Now that would've been funny.

The Lizard said:
Props to the writer for not adding any spiders to the list since they aren't really "bugs".
Yes, he probably wanted to forestall the 10,000 "SPIDERS AREN'T INSECTS!! :cmad:" emails he would've gotten.
Sharp.

Good thing no one has found the video of the chick with an insane infestation in her boobs. I get chills just thinking about it... Didn't know they were botflies though.

**** getting attacked by any of those bugs.

But they are tho aren't they.

If the list had been '5 most horrifying insects', that would have been a different matter, but 'bugs' or 'creepy crawlies', I reckon that refers to all creepy miniture arthropods.

Ooh...impressive internet nit-picking.

BUG -
1 a: an insect or other creeping or crawling invertebrate (as a spider or centipede)

You're right. There was an egregious omission of Spiders here! :cmad:

Thank you I am cool.

Considering quite a few spiders can cause human death, I'd say that's pretty damn horrific.

I guess that's true, "bugs" is slang, isn't it? My mistake - I'm just thinking in biology geek terms. I would have then been tempted to add the goliath spider or one of those giant stinging centipedes or something like that to the list, but maybe the writer was defining "horrifying" as being a serious threat to humans.

The spider that kills and eats BIRDS, qualifies as "horrifying" in my book. heh

Oh you mean the Goliath bird spider....

and yes that's a real dinner plate...

now I feel like I have bugs all over me

yeah. i keep seeing things move on the floor out of the corner of my eye.

i am wholly shocked, though, that 2 kinds of ants made the list, but no spiders. i would have thought at least a brown recluse.

i've never seen that video, but i've seen the picture. i thought it was proven to be fake, though?!

that picture gave me more nightmares than anything, ever... seriously. i've got goosebumps everywhere just thinking about it, and it's been 5 or 6 years since i've seen that picture.

Read this a while ago. I hate wasps already, but Japanese hornets? Sweet bejebus!

They're supposed to be highly aggressive as well. They're just great, aren't they?

I don't know. I'm more scared of the spiders that can do real harm. The brown recluse is horrifying, really...moreso than the female black widow (people rarely die from its bite, but the brown recluse's bite is scarier for far more reasons than simply dying).
