Eight movies.

As others posters said its not 8 films for dc characters. It as others pointed out said is they are looking to get 3-4 dc characters films in the next few years. So batman 3/supes reboot for 2011, and then the other 2 are more likely then not green arrow/green lantern which are the most farest in development at this time. And if they really get cracking they could easily have gl/ga ready for 2010.

That is the likely films to be happening. They would be a bit foolish not to go with berlanti's green latern and goyer's green arrow films since they have the most development going for them and a majority of fans favoring the ideas.

so yeah its six to eight tentpole films, not necessarily all comicbook films, though i expect it will be at least one CBM a year like their original plan years ago.


of course the article also said this:

For now, though, it is focused on releasing four comic-book films in the next three years, including a third Batman film, a new film reintroducing Superman, and two movies focusing on other DC Comics characters. given thats the case and from the other info i've been gathering around my educated guess for the top 3 would be:

Nolan's Batman 3
Superman Reboot
Green Lantern

the fourth film would probably be determined in the next few months. if its true that George Miller will be placed in Wonder Woman since he already has an actress for that film then that will be the fourth movie.

Like, is WB talking about DC's mainline superheroes only? How do Y, the Last Man and Watchmen fit into the plans? What about non-superheroes like Jonah Hex and Sgt. Rock? Or DC's Vertigo, Minx, and Wildstorm lines?

For all we know, when WB talks about 4 comic book movies in the next 3 years, it's merely Watchmen, Y, Batman, and a Superman reboot.

i think the Berlanti GL script development is a bit more recent than what was happening for GA, plus that fact that it surfaced closely in the wake of TDK, that may be whats getting WB's attention now.

dont get me wrong. i for one would do cartwheels if they really will make a GA movie, its just that right now, there's a lot more heat going on in the GL camp than there are in GA.

the reason why i mentioned WW is because of the recent reports that JL is shelved and that frees up George Miller. Miller has been rumored to take the directing helm for GL as well, but there are several factors that would make him a better match for WW-- he's Aussie and he has an actress all picked out for WW (Megan Gale, a fellow Ausie), he expressed interest to do WW in the past and the fact that if they do a solo WW movie the set up that he has Down Under would lend well to the setting of WW.

That's exactly why they need to be very careful with how they make it.

Its much easier to screw up then a solo film with tougher consequences.

Well i still think Ga will likely happen before WW since their is pretty much no development going on ww/flash right now. Where as gl/ga have alot more development going and if they both got the greenlit from WB could easily be filming mid 09 for mid/late 10 releases. But who knows we will just have to wait and see what they decide on within a month or so.

thats exactly what im afraid of. i really hope WB is trying to put up its other heroes on the big screen

Batman Reboot.

this is a hugely successful franchise. i'd say wait 15-20 years or even more for another solo take on Batman. Christopher Reeve's Superman franchise was 50/50 good/bad, but because everybody was so sold on his performance it still took nearly 20 years to come up with a movie reboot, and even then the guy who played the Man of Steel never got out of Reeve's shadow.

its gonna be the same for Bale and whoever will succeed him.

but lets not think about that now. its too early for that sort of thing

Y the Last Man

Wonder Woman

but who the hell knows. Lots of speculation. I have to say I dont think Supermax is going anywhere unfortunately. Goyer and Marks just sound like they are campaigning to the fans

As again i and others said the 8 films were for tentpole pictures for the next few yrs. Now all 8 films will be dc films. Only 3-4 will be dc with is batman 3, superman reboot, and two others. Which more then likely will be gl and ga.

I think the 4 movies will be Bats 3, Supes Reboot, Green Lantern, and Green Arrow. But I'll replace GA with Flash if I had it my way.

Yea its a given batman 3 and superman reboot is what they want for 2011, and really with the Gl and Ga scripts getting around and have alot of development going for them it they both could easily be ready to go for filming any time next yr for a 2010 release. Now yea i would love to see ww and flash happen before ga but since ww/flash have no development going for them its smarter to go with gl/ga for now along with bats/supes.
