Have you noticed the new, rampant "craze" for the Eighties? Music, movies, books, TV series and even clothing.
Everything out there tries to "reference"/homage the Eighties with various degrees of intensity.

Personally, I love the decade to death and I'm very happy about this resurgence.

What do you think about it?

I can see it in media, but not that much in clothing. Then again, I'm not a fashion expert. I'd love to see some of those wacky trends make a comeback.

I wouldn't quite call it a new resurgence but it is definitely hitting its stride now. For the past few years there have been movies and television shows rebooted or based off the 80's.

I thought we were moving along into the 90s already.

yeah it's that time where we are all nostalgic for the 90s.

People that were adolescent or born in the eighties are now adults and producing entertainment based on their childhood from that era.

In the Eighties there seemed to be the same thing with the Fifties. There were movies and TV shows set in the fifties.

I was a kid in the nineties and I don't really have any great nostalgia for the period. There is already a bit of a cultural nineties resurgence. I noticed some fashion outlets have been pushing nineties inspired sports causal wear lately and the grunge/shoegaze/britpop/r'n'b nineties revival sound has been around for a few years now.

Definitely.

Maybe its an issue of demographics. 30 somethings will flock to theatres for nostalgia. The 80s fad in fashion though has kind of faded, it was more of a thing in the earlier 2010s and 2000's. Now the 90's are coming back. Chokers, Flat tops, jean jackets, stone washed jeans for girls, over alls.

I remember in the 90's, bell bottom pants of the 60s and 70s were coming back.

It is crazy that '80s stuff is back in now. It used to be one of the most stigmatised.

It makes me feel vintage which is not nice. Wasn't expecting that so early

There is a movie called Super Dark Times that supposedly captures the nineties really well .

Christ, living through it the first time was bad enough, I've not appetite for a re-run.

I've considered getting an N-64 again off and on over the years but with Nintendo releasing classic console emulators I'm holding back.

80s nostalgia has been around for a decade now. I’m seeing more 90s nostalgia than anything actually.

And it always happens, the 70s and 80s were nostalgic for the 1950s.

To be fair, Thatcher was trying to send us back there yeah.

The 90s were nostalgic for the 60s though. The whole Cool Britannia and Brit Pop were like a homage to the Swinging Sixties.

The style of music in the 90s was similar in many respects to the 60s.

1998 would've been the ideal time for England to win the World Cup again, as it would've been a similar year to 1966, and would've fitted in with the whole mirror situation of past winners anyway.

NO.

The 80's are the new 60's.

the 90's is the new 70's. Get your stuff right, this is important!!!!

How was the 90s like the 70s?

How are the 80s like the 60s?

Are people just going by 20 year gaps?

In terms of music certainly, the 80s is almost the anti 60s.
