Can anyone give me some tips on lock picking in Oblivion? It's such a different system than in Skyrim. I was thinking to myself that if the locks were like in Skyrim I would have picked the lock for that on contract in the Dark Brotherhood ages ago. I think i'm just doing something wrong. I can't quite seem to perfect Lock Picking in Oblivion as well as I have in Skyrim.

Oh, and on Mods for the PC version, have any of you tried things like the Exploding Chicken or the interesting horses some Mods have created that you can ride?

It's been awhile, but I always remember just tapping each tumbler lightly. It had a certain order most of the time. Like wait for it to drop really quick, and then usually the next tap is fine to lock in, or something like that. Like I said, been forever. I played a few thief characters on that game and it started to feel more like instinct since I broke open so many locks, lol. Which btw is how I always seem to do Beth games. I like rogues/thieves, so I usually start out as one, doing a anti-hero with a heart of gold thing. Then do an evil mage run :).

Mods for Oblivion or Skyrim? I used a horse mod on Skyrim that enables your followers ( up to 15 followers) to ride horses and adds mounted combat for them as well. The horses for the followers aren't essentials, but if the horse dies, your follower will simply summon another horse immidiately.

I hate riding horses, so i just walks, and lets them ride horsies..heh

I guess my play style is creating an anything goes character that just does everything she can in the game that is Questable.

Anyways, I envy people with PCs that can handle the graphics because of something like this:

Hey, I'm easygoing enough to hear about Mods in both games if you'd like.

I was watching an IGN Vlogcast that was showing that Follower enabled Horse riding Mod. It's something I'd love in my game on the PS3 since I just love riding around on Shadowmere so much. Oh I just ride around Skyrim a lot just for the sake of discovering things on horseback like I'm on a long Medieval journey.

Oh I love riding around on horses in my game! I love Shadowmere but I wish the other horses were as durable as she/he is. I think you might like Blaze though since she/he has a self destruct feature.

Hmm...now that I think about it I think in the end Bethesda will take all the best Mods that are practical, like rideable horses for followers and make them DLC, hopefully for all versions of the game. Like I said I wouldn't mind having Blaze as an attainable horse in my game. The Elseweyr Mod looks pretty sweet too.

LOL...okay then. It's been a looong time since i played Oblivion, so i can't really remember what mods i used back then. As for Skyrim mods, one of my fav mods is the one that made the women in Skyrim looks good without making them loooks like porn stars, because there are ALOT of those...trust me.

This is how Lydia looks in my game, for example.

The horses for followers mod ( it's called convenient horses mod) is awesome, that much is true. That said, i still love walking around more.Probably because i'm used to it because of FO3. I love walking around in city ruins, all the while listening to 50's songs ( i's starcting to miss FO3)

Oh Beth pays close attention to what is popular mods and whatnot. For example, one of the major complaints with Beth games is that the companions are more or less just pack mules. They fixed this with the Serana companion from Dawnguard, not only beth finally created a companion with actual character, Serana also got improved AI. for example whenever you stops, she goes off doing her own things, like walking around, interacting with objects etc. She'll start following you again the moment you move.

I think from now on, maybe if future DLC's also adds companions, and almost certaintly with FO4,they'll use Serana as a template...which is a good thing!

Now if only they'd pay attention and release a patch that allows the player to turn off spiders. :(

Didn't it come up a while ago, something about a mod that turns all spiders into bears? Doesn't help if you're on console of course, and bears lowering from the ceiling would be quite odd, but that's something like that sounds right up your alley.

Followers should ride horses anyway, it's silly that they don't. Maybe you'd have to buy it for them. I rather like riding around, so my followers tend to get left miles behind, especially if I'm in a hurry.

I've decided to go for the house in The Pale. The Jarl of Dawnstar hasn't offered me the Kill The Giant quest yet, which I understand I need to do in order to become a Thane and get offered the land plot. Hopefully next time I'm up that way, he'll make the offer.

It bugs me that I can have Shadowmere and Arvok and yet my follower still can't ride a horse even if I have two ready. I can see Shadowmere not wanting anyone but the owner to ride it but Arvok doesn't seem that picky.

I am considering getting a gaming pc that would let me run Skyrim, FO 3 and NV among others at a decent resolution. I've been looking around and can anyone tell me a decent graphics card that would be recommended for it?

What if you pretended your character isn't scared of spiders? I'm pretty sure I'd poop my pantaloons if I ran into half the creatures in Skyrim, but roleplay well enough, and you might be okay!

LOL! hwere have you been Matt?

Any decent graphic cards wll be able to run Bethesda games, honestly. You don't need a monster rig for them.

For something under $200 I recommend these,

Radeon HD 6850

Radeon HD 6870

GTX 560 Ti

Here you can find a neat list that ranks cards by their performance.

Just take out your Flames spell and burn them all

Yup lol, double flame and close your eyes until you hear their death rattle.

They could swap them out for Cazadores :D That would be ever so much fun.

Don't even joke about Cazadores. Those damn things are worse than Deathclaws.

Funny, there's nothing like that -not that I can think of anyway- in Skyrim. No creature I will actively avoid, or pick off from far away. Shouldn't dragons be scarier than Deathclaws? I guess not when you're the Dragonborn.

Oh God, I went out of my not to fight those things. I mean I made serious detours or avoided certain regions altogether to gets away from Cazadores. I mean, **** Deathclaws, Cazadores were the worst.

So I was playing as my Stormcloak character...I love coming across Imperial patrols. Shield bash, axe swing. When the last man standing fell down and tried to get back up, I cleaved him with a full arced axe swing. Brutally satisfying stuff.

Also, I never realized how crappy at archery characters can be when they have a low archery skill. My first character is something like 90 in his archery skill, so I'm used to things getting hit and usually dying when I let an arrow lose. I shooting an elk with my Stormcloak fellow, who is an axe and shield man...oh boy, it was embarrassing. The arrow made it maybe a third of the way to the elk before it arced down onto the ground. For shame.

Not if you've got Veronica with you:cwink:

Give her the Pushy gloves, sit back and watch her eats Cazadores for lunch!

I never used the flamethrower in Fallout3 but after I met Cazadores I'd carry one everywhere in New Vegas. :o

Well, I've started having Lydia follow me around in Skyrim. I've given her full Daedric Armor of Legendary forged upgrading and a Legendary Ebony Greatsword. I have a goal to arraign all my Housecarls in Daedric armor too. So far just Lydia and Argis the Bulwark have it.

P.S. My character is a Breton and Lydia towers over me. >_<

I started building my house out in The Pale. Lydia is going to be really bored once I move everything out of Whiterun.

LOL...Breton, the midgets of Skyrim:oldrazz:

Good equipments choices for Lydia. She's a tank if you gives her good equipments.Just remember her skill is one-handed though.Give her daedric sword and a good shield and she's good to go

I can't do it. On the bright side, when the GOTY edition comes out and I rebuy, I am hoping to teach my daughter to play so she can fight spiders for me. :funny:

I traded in a couple months ago. The DLC was nowhere in sight and probably won't come out for PS3 until a a GOTY edition comes out. I'll rebuy then.

Everything good?

HA! :woot:

Anyone know where to get straw from? I need to build a bed so I can stay on the building site over night.

Also, I'm a bit disappointed to find out you can't cure Lycanthropy(sp?) at any time you please. From what I understand, there's only one or two opportunities to cure yourself from being a werewolf, after that you're out of luck. Seems a bit silly given how simple the ritual is. I do enjoy being a werewolf, but after helping *someone* get cured, I kind of wanted to rid my guy of it too.
