Elder Scrolls V - Part 6

Quests won't really net you money as most quest payouts are hilariously minimal (500 gold? HAH!). The real money comes from looting during those quests and then selling the stuff afterwards.

The problem with doing the Thieves Guild fence is that it's very time consuming to get the fence up to 4k per transaction, and even when she hits 4k, it's still only 4k lol. That's a lot of waiting 48 hours for her money to reset.

If you do the Riverwood guy like I said, you have to take the perk that allows you to sell any item to any merchant anyway in order to get the "Invest" perk, so not only will he have 10k+ in gold to barter with but you'll be able to sell him literally anything from your inventory. No item managing, no nonsense, and you can get 10k in gold before having to worry about the 48 hour wait period.
Yeah, wish I'd done this as I was using Riverwood as my main shop. Would have saved me about 200 visits to that guy.

Good point Iceman, traveling light is almost essential for making a lot of coin. It's quite surprising how little you actually need on your character for day to day things. There's always going to be significant items we want to keep from quests or trophies from whatever, but if you had a house it should definitely be there -not in your pockets.

thanks, guys.

so how soon can I get that "Invest" perk?

also, while I wait and save up money to buy/build a house, is there any good way to "store" your essentials and junk?

or is it best to just sell all junk/nonessentials, and keep the essentials on you?

"Invest" requires level 70 Speech skill, but it's only 4 perk points up in the Speech tree. If you do a lot of selling (and you should be anyway) you should get your speech skill up pretty fast.

The "Merchant" skill that lets you sell any item to any merchant is only a level 50 skill so that should really help in both getting more money and raising your speech skill at the same time.

Also, I wouldn't bother storing anything at low level. Just sell anything you don't need. By the time you reach a decent level (25+) you're gonna start finding better armors and stuff anyway and you'll just laugh at the thought of storing Steel Armor or something that's only worth 100 gold.

thanks so much.

I tend to just loot everything from a body........lol

I really need to get back in this game..........lol

Ha I did that. It really slows you down. Best way is to set a tolerance level for value/weight. Mine went up as I got further into the game to something like 10. It makes you go through the game a lot faster and speed your way to better equipment anyway. So if you use 4 you don't pick up something if it weighs 10 & is worth less than 40. It makes sense anyway as the best stuff has a good value to weight ratio anyway.

Definitely don't pick up every useless bit of crockery with weight 1 value 1 for eg just to resell as it's harder to manage your inventory & you get to your limit at a time when you can't fast travel for ages and you're then forced to choose stuff to drop every few minutes. I'd make an exception though when you have a tonne of capacity and are out in the open with no major quest thing going on as you can get to a shop straightaway and unload everything.

Aside from the best stuff which you should be wearing and the equivalent in mage/warrior/thief gear etc you can get rid of pretty much all other weapons & armour near the beginning of the game as it will be out of date so soon & is typically so heavy.

Re my own campaign, I need to finish this Lost of Ages quest which hasn't been as fun as the main quest of Dawnguard. Those dwarven ruins are fine the 1st time but I'm getting sick of them now. Boring & ugly sections lol. Also I love the Skyrim world but does every location need to be hidden near the top of a steep mountain that takes 2 hours to get over? Again a good thing to have maybe 10 times but at this stage the time wasted kind of sets the tension & dramatic weight back to zero :woot:

I just wear whatever makes my character look cool :D

My favoucrite armor/clothing has got to be the Vampire royal armor.

Ever since i saw Serana wearing it, i gotta have it! now it's what my character wears all the time!

Without Dawnguard, it's the wolf armor.

There are also a couple mods clothing/armors, but ever since Dawnguard...it's the Vampire royal armor hands down.

Yea iv liked the clothing found In Dawnguard as well. Think my character has been using the standard Dawnguard armor.

Yeah especially now having done everything, looking cool takes priority over surviving!

Yeah it's great to wear especially with Serana as an ally. We look great together!

Haha thats always been my mantra. Quite difficult starting out, but eventually your characters becomes so bad ass that you can get away with it fairly easily.

im waiting for the Dragonborn DLC before i begin playing again

I just bought the Dawnguard expansion but have not yet played it. I want to re-roll a new character to be a Vampire Lord. My desire is to play an Imperial pure melee combat type character. My question: Am I going to be able to make full use of the Vampire Lord perks if I ignore magic and stealth in my leveling?

Bethesda has released a dozen rather marvellous new screenshots for the next Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim DLC, Dragonborn. Featuring dragons and a variety of weird and wonderful creatures, the new images show you the island of Solstheim, just off the coast of Morrowind.
In Solstheim you'll visit new towns and dungeons, tackling new quests as you journey through the ashen wastes and glacial valleys of this new land. There'll be powerful new dragon shouts to master too that can manipulate enemies and even tame dragons.
"Your fate, and the fate of Solstheim, hangs in the balance as you face off against your deadliest adversary – the first Dragonborn," says the PR words. Check out a few of the new screenshots below and view all 12 in the gallery. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Dragonborn is out on December 4th for 1600 Microsoft Points.

New towns! I assumed it would be kind of like Point Lookout for Fallout 3, where it was more a land mass with no real settlements. That's pretty darn exciting.

Also, new shouts! Good times are a comin'.

I also really like the look of these new clothes:

I'm loving what I'm seeing so far. Looks like my Nord is coming out of retirement after all...

new DLC looks awesome!!!

I hope we get a DLC that lets us travel to High Rock.

That screenshot above looks like Skaal Village.
