Living in Delaware; where the votes were split like 48% to 52%, I'm NOT looking forward to the inevitable "tension" of the upcoming months. I wish Obama would conduct all his business via satellite lol.

Great post, Mal. I agree, we need to put our differences and party affiliation aside and support our next president as one united people. I thought both Obama and McCain gave great and uplifting speeches. Speeches that unite, rather than divide with a message of hope that it's not impossible for all of us, people and government, to work together to lead our nation to a better future.

Now, I was sitting here, almost with heartburn, afraid.

I thought about it, and I am going to leave this all behind.
The United States has elected the 44th President.

I want everyone, regardless, if you didn't vote for him, give him your positive support. He has not done anything yet to deserve our anger. What makes it better, is he is the United States first Black President, which is a monumental moment in our history.

From this point on, I will do what I can, to support our new president when he needs it, but I will of course oppose his policies that I do not agree with in the future.

Lets take a moment, and cheer him on, as he has performed adminrably over this 22 year campaign.

Voted Obama, and I must say that his speech was reminiscent of FDR and trying to bring the country together out of the great depression and facing war.

To those ends, I think we'll see an Obama cabinet with both dems, republicans, and independents, young and old, and everything in between.

As a minority (hispanic) I'm proud that Obama won. As a liberal I'm happy Obama won. As an occasional supporter of the democratic party (I'm socially liberal, but politically I have a love-hate relationship with both parties) I'm glad Obama won. So...overall...I'm in a great mood right now.

I voted for McCain, on the basis that I saw his plans as the "lesser of two evils". In my opinion as an American voter, I do not believe Barack Obama will be a good President. He has numerous ties to Islam, supports both gay marriage and abortion, and wants to withdraw our men and women in uniform from Iraq prematurely.

As for McCain, I feel one reason why he didn't win was because he "sat on the fence" regarding a few very important issues, giving different answers every few months...and its likely that because of it, many Americans felt they couldn't trust him as a responsible Chief Executive. I also think people were much too critical of Sarah Palin, and that in turn reflected negatively on McCain. My hope at the moment is that God will somehow use this to His advantage, to bring the United States into a brighter era for His sake...not Obama's, McCain's, or anyone else's.
