Election Politics are over, time to support our new President

Didn't Obama want Conan O'Brien as his running mate? Poor Conan.

Yeah cause he wanted to appeal to white voters. No, not caucasian voters but voters who are literally white like Conan.

Did anyone get there hands on their local paper yesterday(for me it's the Washington Post)...? Those papers are supposed to be historic and a hot commodity to own cause of Obama's win on the cover.

Same here. :csad: I hear they're now collectors items. I'm gonna see if a can snag Time magazine that comes out today.

I love the way that annoying *****, Elizabeth Hasselback is now backpeddling. :hehe:

Yeah I have a copy of the Northwest Herald and the Chicago Trib. The thing is, everyone and their mother is going to have a copy of their newspaper. I'm not sure how much of a commodity they will be, except as personal prize possessions.

I got the L.A. Times yesterday, from a newspaper dispenser on the way to work. I was there at 7am in the morning, and it was the only copy left. Good thing I got there before it is gone. :word:

I got the Cincinnati Enquirer, Dayton Daily News, and USA Today. I got mine at 830am, and they were among a handful of copies left.

I got one off my neighbor's doorstep. Here's hoping it will be worth the dogbites.

I voted for Obama. He speaks from sincerity. He speaks from the heart and really inspires people. This country (and this world) is in dire need of men like this. There can be no question of his intelligence. He's always on point. It's so easy to misspeak and screw up when the spotlight is on you, and all the pressure is on you to meet people's expectations. And yet, he's cool, calm and confident every step of the way.

Yes, everyone makes mistakes, but this guy...considering the challenges he faces every hour of every day...and even moreso now that he's actually becoming the President...has a way about him that just exudes pure confidence and bravery, while at the same time being humble and respectful to everyone. He's a true class act.

I personally believe that we all need to start asking ourselves, what more we can do to improve our lives, and each other's lives. We live together...we share this world together. This thing we have won't last very long, if we're all just looking out for our own personal good. I believe Obama, as a friend of the Kennedys, and as an admirer of JFK, will carry on that legacy of inspiring people to serve.

Great post.

I truely believe Barack will turn this country around in the next four years and earn a second term. Put me on record fellas. We all gotta do our part but I know Barack will motivate us. Those of us that care anyways.

I voted for McCain, on the basis that I saw his plans as the "lesser of two evils". In my opinion as an American voter, I do not believe Barack Obama will be a good President. He has numerous ties to Islam, supports both gay marriage and abortion, and wants to withdraw our men and women in uniform from Iraq prematurely.

As for McCain, I feel one reason why he didn't win was because he "sat on the fence" regarding a few very important issues, giving different answers every few months...and its likely that because of it, many Americans felt they couldn't trust him as a responsible Chief Executive. I also think people were much too critical of Sarah Palin, and that in turn reflected negatively on McCain. My hope at the moment is that God will somehow use this to His advantage, to bring the United States into a brighter era for His sake...not Obama's, McCain's, or anyone else's.

you are a very classy human being.

jesus would be ashamed of your small mindedness.

all politics aside i believe this to be obama's greatest asset and gift. the power to motivate and inspire others to take the reigns of their own futures. he is the anti apathy force that the world needs right now.

One astonishing picture that deserves to be 'stickied' for eternity.

Right. If he does nothing else during his presidency, he's at least done that much, and that is not a small thing. Let's just hope he doesn't let us down as have so many promising leaders before him.
I believe he can be the president we've been looking for all this time.

I'm starting to like Obama. Something concerns me though. A friend of mine is a teacher and each week she will put a historical quote on the blackboard and ask the students to guess who said it.

This week she put this quote up:"From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs!"

Half of the students thought it was something Barack Obama said. It wasn't him that said it. It was KARL MARX. Now, if students are confusing something the father of communism said with Mr. Obama, what does that mean?

It means they are children and that they are blindly associating a quote with one of the most famous people in our modern society?

Had this not been an election year, my guess would be that most of those students would have said "Hannah Montana" if the quote was put on the board.

Pfft, I think kids are a little too keen on 'Montananomics' to make that mistake

I'm familiar with that quote, but couldn't remember the source. The vast majority of undergrad college students will not be able to guess that quote. I didn't really know who Marx was until I was a senior in high school.

One day, I decided that I wanted to learn why he was such a huge figure in modern history. I located his Das Kapital at the school library, felt it's weight, flipped through it for a few minutes, and put it back in its place on the shelf.

I don't know how far along your friend's students are, but if they had to take a wild guess, then it really doesn't surprise me that they'd say it was Obama. Although, one could argue that it's not a very good guess. My guess was J.S. Mill. :o

It doesn't mean anything sinister. Quite frankly, I'm not surprised they got it wrong. America's education system needs a workover.
