Probs the fuse for the circuit to your room blew, dont know how the breakers are in America but here we just change the fuse wire in the plug for that room/section and it will work, but if you dont know what your doing best off leaving it. Also the thing that tripped it out i would check as well or it might happen again

Sounds like a short.
How old is the house? The receptacle/outlet/plug may need to be replaced and/or rewired. But trouble shooting by the electrician will tell for sure what's up. Where you plugged in may have been the feed to your room and if that's the case the rest of your outlets won't be fed. Are the lights out too?

Let the electrician deal with the issue. Is your brother's iHome all right?

nothing in my room works, my lights, and my other sockets are out.

The electrician will be able to trace out what's going on. I can only guess from this end, but there's nothing you can actually do with out getting your self zapped.

well the problem is solved: I called over my buddie who is a certified electrician, and he traced the problem to my ceiling fan. he said i had a total of 5 wires up there
3 green *the electical outlets in my room*
1 red *my switch to turn on my light*
1 yellow *the main power*
he said that the 3 green wires were being held together with electical tape and they came undone. so he put a piece of plastic on them that held them together and now everything works..
i guess when the spark came out of the socket thats when all the wires leading to the yellow wire came apart. he said i saved a fire from happening.

and it didnt cost me anything,

oh ya he took 4 beers and my hooters mouse pad:( but he said it would have easily cost 175 for an electrician to come out.

Woah, woah, woah. He simply put a piece of plastic over the wires? He didn't, you know solder them? Did he use heat shrink tubing? Are you sure he's an electrician?

yes he is. he said the three wirs from each electrical socket werent connected with the main source of power. but what ever he did, it's fixed and thats all i care about.
