This is going to get interesting now because all the movies left are unquestionably good.
While I think the Connery films are all great (I think it speaks volumes that not one has been eliminated), it's time to start choosing between them. Damn!
Interestingly, Roger Moore is the Bond that's lost out the most, losing 6 out of 7 films.
Summary of the stats:
Connery: 0 out of 6 eliminated
Lazenby: 0 out of 1 eliminated
Moore: 6 out of 7 eliminated
Dalton: 1 out of 2 eliminated
Brosnan: 2 out of 4 eliminated
Craig: 0 out of 1 eliminated
Lazenby and Craig are kind of difficult to place, seeing as both only made one film. Anyways, statistically speaking, the next to go should be The Spy Who Loved Me.
Personally I would let go of License to Kill next, but that speaks more of my own distaste for Dalton than anything. While I love Connery I would let go of YOLT before TSWLM (funny that the latter is basically a remake of the former, in fact the original script had Blofeld as the villain but there was litigation issues with eventual makers of NSNA over the rights to the name) simply because I find myself put off by Connery's very evident boredom in that movie, whereas TSWLM is unquestionably Moore's best performance. Lastly, if I were president, the last 5 eliminated will be Connery's first 3, and Lazenby and Craig's 1, in some order.
Well, of the remaining Connery films, You Only Live Twice and Diamonds are Forever should be the first to go, IMHO. Further, in comparison with what remains, I think TSWLM would be my first choice to go, followed by YOLT and DAF. After that, I'd say the Brosnan's and LTK are likely candidates to leave. My top five would feature Connery's first 3, OHMSS and CR. I'm in two minds as to what should happen to Thunberball.
I think Thunderball should be #6. It drags in parts but it has an excellent performance from Connery, a decent more-or-less believable plot, a wonderful score, beautiful women etc. etc. It really is a solid movie.I think it speaks volumes that not one has been eliminated
statistically speaking, the next to go should be The Spy Who Loved Me.
Strange, I'm not that fond of TSWLM. I'd rate both remaining Brosnan films higher.
Now, Brosnan, he combined everything the previous actors did on screen -- Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton -- and put it all into Goldeneye.
