Your TOP 5 Bond Pre-Titles/Teasers

But Fleming's Bond WASN'T, hence my point about re-vamping the franchise.

Just cause Flemings Bond got beat up and didn't always get the girls doesn't mean it wasn't over the top nonsense. John McClane gets beat up, his wife hates him, and his kid doesn't talk to him. But that doesn't mean the character and the movies aren't over the top nonsense.

It took Connery and Lazenby 7 movies to get to Blofeld, it takes Moore 6 minutes and 38 seconds!

Moore FTW!

:lmao:

The great thing about Die Another Day's pre-title scene was the fact that after so many movies where Bond escapes by the skin of his teeth, it was pretty bold to have him ultimately get captured, and spend the next year and a half being tortured by his captors.

1) Goldeneye
2) Goldfinger
3) Casino Royale
4) The Spy Who Loved Me
5) The World Is Not Enough

The ONLY good thing about that movie.

Absolutely....and turning the title scene into Bond's hallucinations was inspired.

Then, as if a completely different director and crew come in - maybe Steven Sommers - after the credits you are suddenly watching the most ludicrous, awful, saturday morning cartoon meets PlayStation 1 platform game version of 007.

What does McClane have to do with Bond? And your definition of over the top nonsense must be vastly different from mine because judging by what you said, just about ANY character that appears on the big screen can be categorized as over the top, which would include the likes of Jason Bourne, and Dalton's interpretation of Bond, which i'm sure is more what Fleming envisioned Bond to be like. Hollywood turned Bond into what some have called 'a clown' of sorts. I don't know why, in your opinion, Bond and over the top nonsense are a MUST.

2008 is the year of Moore.

Moore is more, baby!

I grew up on Moore, as campy as he is, when i hear the name James Bond, he comes to mind.

1. Die Another Day - that Hovercraft sequence is one of the best action sequences of the entire series.

2. The Spy Who Loved Me - Moore's humour at its best mixed with that breathtaking stunt.

3. For Your eyes Only - The best bit or aerial action in the entire series.

4. Goldeneye - Fantastic mix of one liners and action to introduce the new Bond

5. A View To A Kill - Best Skiing sequence in the series.

It was just Bond beating someone up in the restroom then shooting another guy.

Well he didn't shoot another guy. He shot the same guy who he was fighting.

...maybe that misunderstanding is why you didn't like it?

I'm surprised i'm one of the few that liked The Living Daylights opening. It was one of the best believable sequences in the series.

I also enjoyed Tomorrow Never Dies. MI6 watching their best rogue agent via satellite feed, kick ass, as he disobeyed orders was badass.

Couldn't have said it better. As bad as Die Another Day was you gotta admit that the first 10-15 minutes were awesome.

um...no. Many characters in action movies are larger than life and some-what unrealistic. And some could be called over the top. Bond is one of them. Like I said before...regardless of how many times Bond got beat up in the books and didn't get the girl he's ALWAYS gonna be a guy who runs around using his real name, driving expensive cars, and being the center of attention in the casino. Which is the complete opposite of what REAL spies do.

EDIT:

You can look at characters like Dirty Harry and Martin Riggs do some unrealistic stuff but there's also realistic stuff thrown in. NOTHING Bond does is realistic. You're not gonna find any real life spy doing what Bond does...well...except kill people and have sex.
