Emmy Rossum has a message for the "doubters"

Emmy Rossum says:

“It is called ‘Dragonball Evolution’ because it is an evolution of the series, and I think that when you’re going from a comic to live-action things are going to change,” Rossum explained in an exclusive chat with MTV News. “When you take it into 3D that way, it’s just going to be a little different. but I think the core of what it it and the core of the story and the core of the characters is the same.”

And while Rossum admits that she’s tried her best not to pay attention to the detractors out in message board land in terms of the overall look and feel of the adaptation, she feels that what changes have been made will be for the better, and are a natural progression when a comic makes the jump to the screen.

“When you’re talking about translating a comic into real life, a lot of things change,” said Rossum. “My hair isn’t all blue in the film and Justin Chatwin’s hair isn’t 10-feet high, so I think everything changes a bit or gets lost in translation, so I hope that [the fans are] pleased.”

The movie doesn't suck because of the changes. It sucks because of poor special effects, short and lousy fights, terrible direction, questionable editing, a horrid script, and acting that is bad in comparison to the average high school play.

There is a major difference between nitpicking about minor details and serious flaws with the film.

Exactly.

Fox seems to be trying to quench the negativity on the net by having their puppet actors say "Oh its fine! Fans will love it!".

Like you said this film has bigger problems than character aesthetics.

Goku doesn't have 10 feet hair and yeah Bulma hair being all blue is a gripe but you cant have evolution with continuity errors.

If you have been following this production you would understand that this isn't "rediculas".

Many were fine with the changes in the beginning and like most projects it had its naysayers. Nobody cared if changes were made as long as they were for the further development for the film.

Fox completely rushed this into production fearing the writer strike would put a cap on their 2008-2010 films (No writer, no movie). So they decided to just use the script they had laying around and weren't very confident in the project either thus the $45 million dollar budget.

These factors among many others created this negative outpour in the internet.

I love how she has to step up and say "the changes were for the better" when she probably has never even seen a single episode or read 1 comic
from the source material. Probably didn't even read a wikipedia article on the series or her character.

These people decide to be part of this movie when they know nothing about it and don't even try to do research about the characters and world they are trying to bring to life; then they say "Oh well this is OUR version of DB, this is MY Bulma, she doesn't need blue hair, so forget what you knew about the DB you grew up with and has been hugely successful around the world. This is not that."

It's time I think to finally step up to the plate and actually make the movie we want to see rather than have endless debates about it. I'm all for intelligent discussion, what's the point of a forum without it, right, but yeah, just a crazy thought I had. I sometimes wonder why we even need hollywood anymore now that we have the internet. But I guess bigger brains than mine have thought about that already so whatever.

i just felt like the studio didn't fully supported the film and wanted a quick buck because of the name recognition. For God's sakes, the movie was filmed last Spring and was suppose to be last August. That's utterly foolish and I'm glad Fox pushed it back, but it just tells you that they don't really care about it.

In my opinon Jackie Chan should have been Goku for i can see him bringing teh comedy into the fighting and it being Goku. But too be honest Chatwick looks ok as Goku really.

if you want a lot of profit you make a movie like transformers,iron man,spiderman,gi joe,star trek.

i know that i liked street fighter when it first came out. or mortal combat.
ohhhh yeah but then big budget movies started to come out with action like the matrix and transformers.

i know that as an older guy i dont know what kids think. but with movies like iron man,spiderman,transformers and matrix i think it would be an insult if this movie is a hit.

This an April Fool's joke, because the idea that bunch of fanboys in their backyard, making a good version of DBZ while spending about 100 dollars on it, is pretty funny.

Anyway unless Ms. Rossum is wiling to make out with every male and lesbian who pledges to see this film, I don't think she is doing a good job selling it.
