I've been wondering about this for a while. Back in my day, kids that dressed in black and were kind of morbid were called Goths. They listened to Marilyn Manson and were generally pissed off.

Now we have the Emos, and to me, they seem pretty similar to Goths. Dress in black, outcasts, morbid, listen to My Chemical Romance etc. The only difference I see is that Goths were POed and Emos are depressed.

Thoughts?

Most of the goths I knew in high school had generally pleasant dispositions.

At least the goths have the decency to worship Satan.

The funny thing about that is when I went to high school, there were "emos" and "goths" and the "goths" thought the pentagram was evil...and they didn't even use them upside down. I miss the day when the goths were smart.

Gotta hate posers. Ah well, they make good dupes.

at least goths listen to decent music...

hate it when metalheads, like i am, get slumped in either category. has only happened a couple of times, but goddam it ticks me off

Well since trends last about 10 years, that means kids today should be dressing around black and rallying around a new mental disorder.

Goths smell and like ICP and Slipknot.

Emos are emo and like Fall Out Boy.

I haven't been to a high school in ages, but South Park did a show about Vamps vs Goth. Are there such thing as "Vamps" in High school?
