If they go through with this, they're officially forgiven for the Cold War.

New laws planned to stop 'dangerous teen trends'
A new Russian law could make being an emo kid illegal in the eastern European country.

Legislation is currenting being formulated in Russia to heavily regulate emo websites and ban emo and goth dress style in schools and government buildings.

The new laws are apparently being driven by fears that these "dangerous teen trends" encourage depression and suicide.

The legislation was presented last month at a hearing held by the State Durma, where critics claimed that the "negative" emo culture encourages anti-social behaviour and glorifies suicide.

Emo kids were described as teenagers who wear black, have facial piercings and black hair with fringes that "cover half the face", reports The Guardian

The weekend saw mass protests by Russian emo kids.

In Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, where laws are already being implemented, protestors in a march held signs saying "A Totalitarian State Encourages Stupidity".

Dmitry Gilevich of Russian emo band MAIO stepped in backing the protests, saying: "Expressing psychological emotions is not forbidden by law."

However, emo critics remain unconvinced.

Alexander Grishunin, an adviser to bill sponsor Yevgeny Yuryev, described a ban as necessary, stating: "This is the first step in the public discourse."

The moves in Russia follow criticism of the genre in the UK earlier this year, which saw My Chemical Romance fans protesting at the offices of British newspaper The Daily Mail over their coverage which linked emo with suicide.

I'm glad I don't live in Russia. I wear mainly black clothes and listen to "EMO" music, but I've never injured myself.

Okay I'm not exactly that loving of Emo's, but this is dumb.

Well... It looks incredibly stupid... but I don't care what people wear.

One more reason why Putin rocks!:woot:

:oldrazz:

Since when does Russia need America's forgiveness? America is flat out afraid of the Russians.

Meh, we're afraid of everyone. Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, Mexico, etc

America was flat out afraid of the Russians. We're afraid of North Korea and Iran now.
Pfft... the Iranian Government is full of ****ards and idiots. All it needs for the government to be overthrown is a guerilla movement from it's people against the feds. They only lack the light to show them the way. And the United States of America are NOT the light. Who does the US think it is? The dictator of the world? Seriously, this is why all the other countries hate the States because it's the International Bully of the world. They helped establish the UN but won't even listen. They give Iraq weapons and have been blowing them up for 6 years now because of it! They were the ones who stopped Iran from having a democracy in the first place and then later played their part in setting up an Islamic Republic and exiling the Shah due to him trying to Nationalize the country's oil supply.

Anyways, going back to Russia banning Emos...

FIRST RUSSIA, THEN THE WORLD!!!

But seriously, I've got black dress shirts and T-Shirts and Golf-shirts and I naturally have black hair, where does that put me?! :csad:

I swear to God, if I ever go to Russia and they don't let me in the post office or something (or even the airport for that matter) because I have black hair and black golf shirts I'mma rip their mofo'in heads off! :cmad:

You should be good, just as long as your clothes aren't too tight and you're not wearing eyeliner.

It's a f***ing fashion trend. Why are they creating laws to ban it? Give it about a decade, and it'll die out like grunge.

Remember the grunge kids? Hmm? They're working in corporations now. The dirty mud-dwelling hippies? Them too.

SEND THSI GODDAMN EMO TO RUSSIA! :cmad:

I have an afro and like wearing blue.

I just think this whole anti-emo thing is going too far. Yes, they're fun to crack jokes about, but since when is it acceptable for governments to ban styles of dress?
