Around 1999 a friend of mine introduced me to a then relatively plain and unknown search engine called Google.

It was a plain page with just the Google image we now know and love. At the time when Alta Vista, Lycos and Yahoo roamed the Web like dinosaurs of old and whose pages were littered with advertisements and mind boggling links, the cleanliness of the Google search was a refreshing change.

I thought to myself no way this would last. How are they going to make revenue without advertising? The kind of narrow thinking that grunts like me have and is why I'm still cleaning up other people's PCs and the owners of Google are now swimming in their vaults of cash.

Anyways, 10 years later here I am still using Google, probably along with everyone else and I am looking to cut that cord. It's time Google and I go our separate ways and I need you Hypesters' help. Please suggest an alternative to the behemoth that is Google!

Thanks!

My idiot school is trying to make us students convert to a different School search engine, like SearchAlberta or something.

**** them, Google Fo' Lyfe :cmad:

You could always use Yahoo.

Why are you switching? What did Google do to you?

I guess Bing is the new thing. But I don't like it. Google ftw!

Nothing per se I just want to know if I am missing anything by limiting myself to the same thing for this long. Was curious if there's any other browser out there.

I'm always on the lookout for new search engines. I tried Ms Dewey when that came out. It was... interesting. But the functionality sucked.

I dislike Bing. I don't like that Google is trying to buy Earth and name itself as our corporate overlord but I've always wanted to live in a cyberpunk rpg anyway.

Pretty much this. It just seems like it's everywhere now. It's like the Walmart of search engines.

It's good for what it's when all is said and done but it's getting too big for its britches.

The Internet thrives in diversity.

I just used google again. They changed the format. The lying cheating ****e.

Who else wants to go to bing?

My husband likes to use ask.com... but I think it's a pain.

I've tried Bing a few times and don't like it either.

I always default to using google. Google hardly EVER lets me down.
