Around 1999 a friend of mine introduced me to a then relatively plain and unknown search engine called Google.
It was a plain page with just the Google image we now know and love. At the time when Alta Vista, Lycos and Yahoo roamed the Web like dinosaurs of old and whose pages were littered with advertisements and mind boggling links, the cleanliness of the Google search was a refreshing change.
I thought to myself no way this would last. How are they going to make revenue without advertising? The kind of narrow thinking that grunts like me have and is why I'm still cleaning up other people's PCs and the owners of Google are now swimming in their vaults of cash.
Anyways, 10 years later here I am still using Google, probably along with everyone else and I am looking to cut that cord. It's time Google and I go our separate ways and I need you Hypesters' help. Please suggest an alternative to the behemoth that is Google!
Thanks!
