Episode 3: "Descent''- review thread.

Chase is starting to become my favorite charcater in the series. She really is evil..and i love her! That sob story she told at the AA meeting was funny as hell! The actress that plays her has a british accent so i asume she's British (like myself)...it just proves my theory about American and British actors...the british seem to be better over all.:D

I had a chance to read the season list that someone had posted up on the forum (can't seem to find it now) but next week, Blade is capture by a gang that he used to be part of...i wonder why he left them? The gang leader is played by Bokeem Woodbine.....

Edit: She's actually Australian.

Yeah, because it's not like these episodes were taped months ago...

I know they were; but you look at the pilot vs. episoe 3 it's like they got the message somewhere.

I think the show is starting to find it's groove. And Sticky training is starting to show.

Their growing into their roles, understanding them more, you notice this in just about every TV series. The pilot is usually the worst judge of a show, the 2-3 eps after the pilot give you a much better look.

As for episode 3, I liked it, plenty of storylines are being set up and moving forward. Liked when Blade let the "asher" go because in a way he's helping Blade out. Also liked that Krista did go home at least let her mom know she was okay, but wouldn't be around. Subplot about the cop and vampire cop is interesting, thought the cop seeing the tooth ash was a nice touch. What was in the bag though? Also, Krista's gonna need to feed soon, otherwise at least Chase is gonna catch on that's something isn't right. Not gonna be able to fall on a giant wooden spike every week.

Maybe I wanted so badly for Blade to be a good show, I was harsher on the pilot than I should've been.

Nooooooo!!! I missed it! :(

Any idea when it will show again? :(
I missed it too. I have it so engraved in my mind that nothing comes on TV on Wednesday :(

how much like snipes does he look in these shots?

i thought this was very cool camera work....

I did like the camera work there, which has also improved greatly. It now compensates for the weaknesses in Kirk's fighting. And Kirk does seem to feel more secure in the role now. He doesn't seem to be trying so hard anymore.

^^ It always gonna feel like that, when a new actor takes over.

They should re-edit fight scenes.the pilot for dvd release. The Blade in the pilot and the Blade we see in EP 2 and 3 seem like two different people....and that's a good thing.

Another thing i noticed last night. In the re-cap of Episode 2, Chase screams to Krista "Kill Fritz" but within the actual episode, she screams "Kill him". so you couldn't tell if she was ordered to kill Fritz or Blade......

She was not about to send Krista-who's been a vampire for, like, 5 minutes-up against Blade. Unarmed, no less. Since she initially told Krista to stop Fritz & that didn't work, the only way to keep Blade from taking him was to kill him. So she clearly meant Fritz.

I was merely pointing out that the editing was different.

Of course, since the entire season was done filming months ago, that's impossible. ;)

Geoff Johns stated at one of the Wizard World conventions that R-rated versions of the entire series will be released on DVD. So maybe we'll see better fight scenes.

I think the show is turning out great. I wasnt so sure when i watched the 1st episode if Jones was gonna cut it or not, but now he seems to be finding his groove. Like i said before, once he becomes his own Blade and stops trying to mimic Snipes Blade, hell be GREAT. I really am enjoying this series. As for Chase, i hope Blade stakes her ass, i think shes annoying. Krista on the other hand........ DAMN.

Saying the show is "great" is a stretch IMHO. I'd give the show at least 13 episodes (which IMHO would allow Sticky time to grow into the role), before I'd give the show high praise or say the show sucks.

People thought the new Battlestar Galactica sucked when it first aired, yet now, after two full seasons the show is considered to be one of the better shows on television.

I hope Blade improves with age as well.

Who thought BSG sucked at first? It's been critically acclaimed throughout its entire existence.

Well, the Blade movies have never been much for depicting sex, so if you wanna get technical, that scene in the motel with the couple goin' at it was the most risque of any live-action Blade entity, film or tv show (I still can't get over the fact that even with every film having a hard "R" rating, they never had anyone nude up!).

Not quite sure about that KenK,

In the first film, Donal Logue's character (Quade?) was getting some serious head during the club scene at the beginning of the film.

But I think the gore/language/sex is fine so far for basic cable.

I loved BSG's first season. Every episode. I haven't seen the entire second season yet, the first seven eps. and the season finale, but I could tell that it was starting to make some stumbles at the start of the second season. However, I liked the risky second season finale. I'm looking forward to catching up on the rest of the second season and the upcoming third season.

As for Blade, I'm reserving judgment until the end of the season. By the fourth show, it had improved a good deal. But the Boone dude doesn't do anything for me. I hope that storyline gets wrapped up fairly quickly.

I'm not sure yet if the show characters are interesting enough for me to want to watch for 13 eps. or beyond yet. BSG grabbed me during the miniseries-which did a much better job introducing the characters and giving you a sense of their motivations than the Blade pilot did. The FX also look better. And the actors are better too.

As for the women...I would take the BSG women over Blade's any day. Number Six and Boomer are like supernova hot.
