Episode 3: "Descent''- review thread.

Krista is pretty good eye candy, but that's all she is. Her storyline is remniscent of a daytime soap...which i hate. I love Chase's character btw. I just hope krista is not Blade's informant throughout the entire run of the show. She's only been a Vampire a couple of days, so it would be cool to see her actually accept her new Vampire powers (as his mother did) and turn on Blade, at some point.

As for the women...I would take the BSG women over Blade's any day. Number Six and Boomer are like supernova hot.

Oh heck no. Number six is hot in her own way, but Krista trumps every woman on BSG IMHO.

I had to come to grips with BSG being a bit different from the show from the 70s. After I accepted the changes I was hooked.

I'll say this. Each episode of Blade is an improvement on the last, so there is hope for the series if it last.

XB,
Don't get me wrong, Krista is very attractive. But I think Chase is the freakier of the two. And Six and Boomer are freakier than both, from what has been shown on screen so far. So, for a good time I've got to go with the Cylons.

Golgo,
I agree with you about Krista for the most part. I think it would be cool if she eventually wound up as head of House Chthon or becomes the supervamp adversary of Blade. Something tells me that she's going to try that vaccine on herself before too long.

The screentime between Blade and Krista has been uneven so far, and I feel it would only get worse if she stayed on as his 'sidekick'. We see her growing and changing already, while Blade is something of a one-note.

Krista as a prime, recurring adversary would really give Blade a personal enemy that would make their exchanges really sizzle. Plus, the ground work is already laid. I could easily see Krista blaming Blade for her brother and for her own descent. And Blade might be hampered by guilt or doubt a little and it might affect his ability to take her down.

This story so far has been Krista's journey. But I don't see the revenge arc having much juice after 13 eps. I hope they wrap it up and give us a twist. Krista's revenge is very specific and her story pretty much ends once Marcus is staked. Blade's vengeance against vamps is far broader and you could get a lot more mileage out of it.

I think it might be nice to have a new enemy/group of enemies each season. Take on a new house, in a new city each season might be cool. Blade might use new tactics to bring down the different houses.

Chase = Darla, Callisto and a little Harley Quinn thrown in for good measure. She's the crazy evil chick you all love to hate. :D

This episode, much like the episodes before it, was all over the place. I like the fact that they are trying new stuff and they want the show to take off into different directions, but generally I like my episodes a little more unitary in plot and characters, but I suppose it will get better as the season progresses and the plot lines converge.

What really works for this series is the supporting cast. All the actors are doing very good jobs of portraying their characters, not matter how small the role might be. I found myself liking Kane, Chase, Sanz... even the girl at the end after Blade popped in through the wall. And don't get me started on the doctor dude. That was one fecking creepy picture!!!!!!!!

Anyway, this episode presents an ethical dilemma. Blade says: "I have to trust another human being. Just so happens she's a vampire"

Are vampires human beings? That would make Blade a mass murderer, wouldn't it? I really liked Sanz, and actually felt sorry for him when Blade pushed his head through his wall. The writers should be vewy vewy vewy careful about how they portray these vampires. This is not Buffy, though there have certainly been some Buffy moments in this episode. :)

I liekd this episode alos , lol i keep saying there getting better as they go, this show has major potential

I'm alittle surprised at Blade letting the Vampire from the Casino go, mostly because recent television trends have always been to make character's DARKER rather than lighter but Blade genuinely makes an exception to his crusade. It's something that I'm not sure actually fits his character but seems to be somewhat situational.....it seems that Blade didn't think the guy was probably a "killer' vamp but I'm not sure how he knew that.

Still, it's an odd twist since earlier Blade let the Ash market continue despite the fact it hurt people. He's got a very situational morality.

I also think the pregnancy scene in episode 3 was hilarious as it was just great to see Blade thrown completely off of his game. It's also surprisingly disturbing as it also isn't very funny when you think about it since it implies some very sick experiments are going on. Still, it was a helpful reminder that Blade lives in the "real" world.
