Even as a fan, why be excited about these movies?

There is so much more that matters to movies than seeing your favorite characters on the big screen. I think Batman and Robin are great characters but I wouldn't be excited for another Schumacher film starring them both. I mean, if the fans would stop drooling over whatever is thrown at them, maybe it would force Avi Arad and crew to try a little harder.

Big eye brow, little eye brow... how about GOOD MOVIE, BAD MOVIE?

It may suprise you but some people actually liked the movie.

The FF movie suffered from a stale storyline where they didnt actually have to save anyone or do anything, but especially from a terribly realized, weak interpretation of Dr Doom. Aside from that, it was funny and had a few good scenes. I would trust seeing a FF movie over seeing the Lakehouse movie or a non-pixar CGI celebrity voice spectacle, which are about the only other genres of movies out. Its not like anyone was going to come along and make an actually good FF movie, its ignorant to think that could happen. Why am I defending a movie that I basicly didnt even like.. because it wasnt Elektra. And I saw Elektra. And I hate myself for that.

I have to agree I prefered FF to say.. A Shark's Tale, and I'm not even an FF fan. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't.. good.

Completely agree.

And from the way Avi and Tim have been talking, I believe they're going to make the sequel alot better.

the probelm is that they need to start giving comic book movies to...comic book fan directors :wow: . Sin city: awesome, Spider-man: Awesome, X-men: Awesome. The only real exception to this rule is daredevil which sucked ass :(

FF was a particularly bad example though, other than thing and johnny none of the actors could pull off their roles, especially alba. In what world could that halfwit pull off sue storm :whatever:

Actually, the Director's Cut of Daredevil was pretty good.

Fantastic Four wasn't great at all, but I thought it was okay maybe even good. You can't say it was a bad movie when Reed walks in on a naked Jessica Alba! :D

I think the only way people would be excited about the movie, and not wait and see it on DVD is cause Silver Surfer and Galactus are in it.. If it wasn't for them then I would have waited till the DVD. That's how bad the first movie was. It was like a made for Television movie. They shafted Doom big time. Doom is the greatest villain since Darth Vader, and they gave him such an anti-climactic character. I would have done a better job writing him into the story. They can still fix what they did. I would have been able to give Doom a facelift in part 2.

The fact is, it can't and won't be any worse than the first one. We can get excited about that. It seems the studio had way too much influence over Story. Now that the first one was a moderate success, Story will have more control. He earned that in the studios eyes. He also knows the first one could have been much much better. He also knows the film suffered because of the origin. Now, he can hit the ground running. The mistakes of the first will hopefully be corrected. I'll give Story a pass on the first one, simply because he can't do any worse this time.

Bryan Singer has never been a comic book fan. Where did you hear that? Story knows more about the FF than Singer knew about X-Men.

IMO,F4 wasnt bad,but it wasnt great either,6/10....it was a little to cartoony for my taste.I do have high hopes for the sequel though.

The reason I think people doesn't like it because not enough action. They had to go through 4(actually 5) characters including DOOM and didn't have time for too much action and it would take some of the characteristics of those characters. The second movie would be way way way better(even though I like the first one too)because all of the stuff is out of the way. CAN'T WAIT FOR THE SEQUEL!!!!!

holy crap the silver surfer..omg omg

Really?? What made it better? I have the regular version.

30 more minutes which included a whole new subplot, extended fight scenes, and alternate scenes from the theatrical cut. There's also a great documentary that explains just how the theatrical cut of DD was butchered so horribly (two words: Gary Foster). It's really worth checking out. It's a different film altogether, unlike some director's cuts.

Ya, I didn't really care for FF,it was a little too cartoony. It had no story,no real action to it. Seemed like they rushed it too much, think if they made it more of a 2hour movie they could of done better.
I've heard a few ppl bash alba for her role, but personally I did'nt like any of the actors portrayl. C'mon the thing was terrible, and simply silly lookin. Should of done the CGI stuff for him(Hulk;that was a good far as cgi).
It seems FF was a begining of a trend with comic book movies. Rehash a franchise(or start one),and first one is all backround and no action to it. Not that doin a backround is a bad thing its a must now(helps give non-comic fans a brief history),just when they don't add action to it kindof kills the movie. Movie gets flamed by everyone..
I'm not gonna have high hopes for FF2,so maybe it will be good. To be honest Im not a big fan of the comics, but I love movies like this.

I think a lot of people are, slowly, getting excited about F4 2 because, as has been mentioned, word is the sequel's going to be better - and judging purely by the teaser, I'd have to agree. F4 wasn't bad bad, but it could have been much, much better, and many (myself, to an extent, included) just want to see this franchise drag itself out of the mediocrity-hole.

Your idea of what a bad FF movie, and my idea of a bad FF movie, depends on your point of view. I've been a fan over 40 years, since I was 9 years old, and I have patiently waited for this time. The 1st movie, I did not give a dame. This was the FF, on the big screen, larger then life. 9 times I saw it, and all 9 times while I was watching I had goose bumps. Was it a cinimaic, great movie ? Hell no. Does the sequeal need to be better ? Better dialog, better costums, better story ? No question, and I feel we will get that. The 1st movie was not the worse superhero movie I have seen, nor was it the best. Worse movies. Batman and Robin, Superman 3 and 4, Dardevil, Elektra, Hulk. Best ? Batman, Batman Begins, Superman 1 and 2, all 3 X-Men movies, both Spider-Man movies. FF was not by any stretch of the imaganation a bad superhero movie. Could it have been better ? Yes. Did it work for what it was ? Yes. Good clean fun, which is what the FF are about. The comic never took itsself too seriously, and neither should the movies. This is not a dark, deep, comic like Batman or Superman.

Seen the trailer tonight. Looked pretty good from what I seen and they showed. SS looks okay, ala Terminator 2's T-1000 or whatever it was called.
I don't know too much about SS,thought he was a good guy, didnt know he was a enemy of FF..

I would have to disagree. I thought that Sin City was horrible. Sure it was a near perfect translation of comic pages to film, however I felt it just did not seem to fit in a moving talking form. The dialogue was horrible as well as the acting. I also despised X2, Blade 2 and 3 and didn't care for SM2. Daredevil I thought was fairly cool as it was a dark story with some nice touches. I could have done without the stupid playground fight but otherwise found the movie a pretty good adaption of the comics.

Now the FF was a good movie if taken in the context I think it was meant to be given to us movie fans. The movie was a setup and really nothing more. It really did an outstanding job building the character dynamics and letting the audience get to know them as a "family unit". There was a ton of animosity at the start but near then end when they needed each other, they were there for each other. This movie when looked at as part of a series is actually pretty well done. As a stand alone film, not so much. If looked at as a one shot it leaves the audience wanting more in a major way.

The trailer released for the second installment looks amazing. I really hope the movie lives up to that standard.

I don't think Alba was cast for her brains.

One thing they nailed perfectly inFF was the family dynamic of the team the bickering between sue and jhonny was perticularly good.

I agree, some people did like the movie. I didn't think it was *that* bad.

Well,I don't care if some people HATED Fantastic Four,I loved it.
All the cast were good in bringing these characters to the big screen, especially the gorgeous Jessica Alba who in my opinion was perfect as Sue Storm and the brawling and arguing between The Thing and The Human Torch was just like how it was done in the comics.:woot:
The only thing I did'nt much care for was Dr Doom's accent being American not Latverian or European if you will, but never mind,my point is it was great and was'nt awful like Hulk or Elektra was.
