Where Are the Black Superhero Movies?

Firestorm would rule. John Stewart would make an excellent GL cast member. And I am currently writing a script for my version of a Teen Titans movie featuring Cyborg.

I am a big advocate of black superheroes. Nothing would please me more than more African American and African centered Superhero movies.

Now that DC has changed the ethnicity of some of its classic characters, it would be good to promote them on film. But when I made that earlier statement it was in reference to the track record of the film releases. Who has Marvel put out so far? Three Blade films. Three X-Men films featuring Storm. In development are Cloak and Dagger, Black Panther, and a license for Luke Cage. That's a lot more than WB who've only given us a black Catwoman and no mention of anybody else. If we're to believe the Jack Black script then we know WB's mind on GL.

They'll do whatever sells...believe me...if Sony ever gets Luke Cage on screen and IF the movie sells...cha-ching. I know, some might say Blade, but here's the thing...Blade is Black, but most don't put Blade in that genre...he's more identified as a vampire, who Black, rather than a Black vampire.

Why should Black superhero movies be a different genre from superhero movies?

They shouldn't. If they're treated as such we're gonna get a bunch of idiotic "superhero-in-the-hood" movies.
