I rewatched it recently and have just wanted to start the first thread I think in a long time on Ash and his case of deja vu monster killing and fistfull of boomstick.

Which is the best and why?

HAIL TO THE KING BABY!

I think I like Evil Dead 2 best. Although, for sheer disturbing content, the tree rape scene in ED1 is by far one of the most disturbing things ever put on film.

I love the whole series, but Evil Dead 2 has a special place in my heart.

I agree but I voted for the second one since I just love the seer craziness of it . Favorite scene by far when his hand get possessed.

Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 are the best of the trilogy. Army of Darkness is too lighthearted and comedic for it to be in the same class as ED/ED 2.

****, I thought Army was great. Really flesh out Ash as a character for me. Yeah it's too lighthearted but it still got to me.

Y'see Evil Dead 2 is my least favorite of the three.

I mean it's okay and it has moments of brilliance. Those moments being when he cuts his girlfriend's head in half with a chainsaw, fights his mirror self, cuts off his possesed hand after it whoops his ass and chases it around the room like a bugs bunny cartoon and to top it all off goes crazy and starts laughing with his furniture and moose head.

That stuff is all classic. But that literally is all a 10 minute section of the film. After that the only real moment I enjoyed was him putting the chainsaw on to replace his hand. Otherwise I kind of felt like it was all a repeat of Evil Dead 1 without the genuine scariness of it nor the originality. Albeit more ambitious force shots were awesome, it was still...kind of stale and the new characters were annoying and not very funny.

The first while being extremely low budget with bad acting and a screenplay with more plot holes than swiss cheese, was just so entertaining and original fun. It grossed the hell out of me and disturbed me in several scenes and still does. It was also funny and at times intense with the beginning of the trademark tilted camera Raimi angles. It just lacks the humor or chainsaw goodness of the sequels.

But Army of Darkness is my favorite. It is the best made. Ash was just your regular chump turned sole survivor/hero in the first movie and we saw Campbel lstruggling to find the badass in 2 but in 3 he was just the epitomy of cheesy goofy badass. His one liners have me crack up hard every time. His interaction with the world and reference jokes ot the first two like "Don't touch her....get an axe" still work not to mention again his trademark one-liners "Well Mr. Fancy Pants you're only a leader of two things around here: Jack and ****. And guess what? Jack's left town."

Plus while 2 may have introduced the chainsaw, it wasn't used in a cool way until AOD, in my opinion.

It is a lot of fun albeit the three stooges mini-Ashs may have been a bit much.

But as a whole they are the silliest fun you'll ever have in horror movies.

I think the packaging of the movies says it all...

ED1 and 2 in the book of the dead form and Army well....

yeah that's the problem about ED2, it kinda feels like a remake. I was trying to figure out way they made the 2 movie because right after the first time I saw ED2 I ask myself "Ash went to the cabin twice...WTF." I made two theorys with my friends, either A) After he burns the book of dead I believe I kinda reverse the spell and return Ash to a normal life or just into another spell I don't know 100%. B) IMO I think Ash for the first one and Ash from the rest of them are to different Ashes. They just share the same name.

Don't get me wrong I like Ash. He's a badass character and he's the definition of the hero that every guy wants to be like. :woot:

I get what your saying you like the hardcore horror better, it's cool ever one has their own opinions.

umm...the first 10 minutes or so of Evil Dead 2 are just a quick rehash to get the idea of what's going on across to the audience. it's the same ash, and he never left the cabin. the actual plot of ED2 starts after Ash gets flown through the air and lands in that muddy puddle. it's pretty much a direct sequel taking off from when the force charges him at the end of the first movie.

Evil Dead II is my sht!!!

The shots of speeding past the woods to the cabin were just scary, and that witch that had her voice change.:woot: :woot:

Yea, it was way gorier than I usually like, but it's one of my favorite movies, not just horror, but top ten all time. Spider who??

Army of Darkness kind of blew-I remember that and Leprechan came out the same weekend and we snuk into the theater and sat through a double crap feature that day.:cmad:

Evil Dead 2. Evil Dead is straight horror. Army of Darkness is straight comedy. Evild Dead 2 does a great job of mixing both.

Even though I like Evil Dead more, Evil Dead 2 is more rewatchable and entertaining

I really don't get why Evil Dead II is the most popular but cool. It just is a rehash of all the same tricks of Evil Dead 1 except playing it for laughs instead of horror. 2 is not scary at all. I love the hand part and replacing the chainsaw but even that isn't paid off until AOD. Otherwise EDII just kind of redoes everything done in D1 but less scary.

AOD is just so much fun and was the one where Campbell really became comfortable with his screen persona and was ready to unleash the ASh we all love. Which is hwy it is my favorite, then.

Army of Darkness is the best. It is just a fun movie to watch. I love it!

Evil Dead 2. Although I like Army of Darkness almost the same. They are both great.

The first film was too dark, while third was too campy. So the second is the best one!!!

I love the memorable quotes in AoD, but ED2 takes the cake. The chainsaw hand, the laughing buck, the insane camera tricks, the movie is a masterpiece that I can watch over and over.

damn i need to see the movie again, it's been awhile.
