The Dark Knight Exclusive Set Reort #4: The Final Chapter!

I was not going to bring up this story...but since others have had encouters with these yellow shirt tough guys I'll give you my story.

On Friday night when I was in the city....(when me and my friend got the pics of joker)

We were on the bridge watching lower wacker. I noticed that the sidewalk on upperwacker (near franklin) was wide open. We could stand on the ledge and overlook some of the set. And the entrance to the set with a ramp for cars. So we stood on that ledge and watched crew people walking around, then saw Buster and Ledgers stand in. Then Ledger arrived on set. We were up there for a good 45mins. Then someone else came...used a flash camera. A PA yelled at him from below. Problem solved. Later...another person showed up and used a flash. Then 5 mins later 3 yellow shirts arrived. And told everyone to leave. So we went to the bridge.

20-30mins later....when most people were gone. We went back to the sidewalk. Only 1 yellow shirt was there. He said....put your camera away. He didn't tell us to leave. Just said put your cameras away. we stayed for about 10 mins before 2 more yellow shirts came. They told us to leave.

I was getting fed up with these guys...so I asked him why we couldnt stand on a public sidewalk. he replyed "because i said so"

We stepped away from the ledge...walked a few steps towards the street and kinda huddled in a group shareing pictures with each other. Then he comes to our group and tells us to leave. from this point...were not even watching them film. I'll admit I got a little lippy at this point...because this guy was just being a a**hole. Because he is bigger than everyone...he thinks his looks can scare people. And I wasen't having it. I told him.."dude if I'm doing something wrong or illegal than call the cops on me" and I continued to stand there. He then told another yellow shirt..."handcuff this N***A* So me and my friends walked away. They stayed back.

We went back to the bridge and everyone was talking and asking what thier prob was. Finally a few mins later...these yellow shirts start walking towards us AGAIN. While we stood on the bridge. Me and my buddy walked away....when we turned around we saw they were comming after me and him! while 10 other people stood on the bridge.

At this point I felt like my life was in danger...me and him ran! THEY RAN!!!

We ran for about 4 blocks then jumpped in a cab. Went back to my car and went home.

I really want to tell someone about this night...it was complety un-called for. But I don't know where to begin. I can't find a e-mail for anyone at WB or even a Nolan e-mail address. Hell the freakin mayor dosen't have a e-mail.

Something tells me those guys were gonna hurt me and my friend...or worse.

I'll admit I wasent the perfect little boy....but they went beyond the line. They knew I didn nothing wrong but stand on a sidewalk. I never snapped a picture in front of them. As a matter of fact I didnt even take it out of my pocket. All of that joker footage is before they even showed up. The PA
s were cool with us until someone used a flash.

It makes me even more mad that other people have had problems with these meatheads!

Wow that's horrible typeo :(

I'm not sure how much this will help y'all that are making these set reports, but I know a lot about how to deal with police/security (not from being a film spy, but from being involved in protests :yay:)

Firstly...It's an obvious point but don't give them a reason to go after you. Comply with what they say within limits, and be friendly. It's sad to say but yelling at them about your rights often will only make them arrest you. And they don't need a reason, because they can just use something like "disturbing the peace" etc. Most likely you won't be charged, but better to avoid arrest all together.

If you're adament about getting a great shot, then I would suggest knowing the laws that pertain to your situation (right to freedom of assembly, free press, any laws or bylaws in the district that apply to filming lisceneses). Even make a copy so that when a security officer approaches you you can show them exactly what you're talking about. It takes away thier legal leg to stand on. Also ask the officers on what grounds they want you to leave. If they can't give you a exact legal reason, you can always record that and use it to back yourself up later.

The most important one is making sure that there is someone who is documenting the events. If you're in a group (and you should be) designate one person to be the person who will step back if the security approach and have them FILM or take PHOTOS of the whole exchange. Then if something happens you then have evidence that you were attacked unprovoked. Worst case scenario, if you're arrested you have evidence that supports your claims.

Well anywho, I hope none of you have to resort to any of these measures. Keep the awesome set reports coming

I'm torn on the whole PA being *****es issue. On the one hand, they have no right to tell you what to do when you're on public property. On the other hand they are hired to do a job and make sure filming happens with little to no distractions.

I love the scoops and reports but I'd be willing to give up all that information if it means the production crew gets the film done without all the hassle of chasing intrusive people away.

Well the problem is that these knuckleheads aren't actually part of the crew, but rather a hired security team. If a PA walks up to you they are generally pretty cool, talk about the movie, tell you where to see the best angles, when to come back, that sort of thing. The yellow shirts don't know ****. One guy last Wednesday told TrueGrave and I to get off one of the bridges because, I swear to god he said this "If I can't see anything, neither will you." We laughed, told him we met Chris Nolan and had already seen Joker, called him a dick, and left.

They are no different than mall guards or school guards or any other outside hired security company. It's and easy job that take little to no intelligence, and that's why *******s get hired.
:wow: That's amazing! I honestly can't believe it.

Hey let's keep this straight, the PAs are all really nice for the most part. It's those yellow shirt rent-a-cops who are complete morons.

Yeah, it would be geat if the joker would design is own outfits like in B89. (I like the Dr. Evil look too). Maybe we can get the Joker in Armani ads as part of the publicity for the movie.
I just want joker to wear a casual vest not a cheap ugly vest

Yeah, 8 out of 10 PA's you meet are cool. If you're in good with them, security can't say **** to you. They have little to no authority.

They even let us use their bathroom!

that lets us know we were super cool with everyone. You're tight with people when they let you take a dump in their facilities, the women facilities none the less! :woot:

the PA's are cool... I have never had a problem with them. Friday night they let us watch. We didn't even see a camera or light or the set from that point. we only saw behind the scenes and the entrance to the set. But becuase people didn't listen the Pa's called in the yellow shirts.

There are some yellow shirts who don't care. But they think becuase thier job title is Security that they can act as if they are cops! WRONG!

Dr. Watson you said something about them arresting you....as far as I know they can't Arrest you. They are not cops. So what can they do? cuff you then call the cops??? When you do nothing but say No to them? Like I said...I even told them "call the cops and tell them to ask me to leave" and they didn't!!!!!!

Its in the past and I'm done with it...but I'd like to let someone know what happened. Maybe its best to report this to the police. But I don't want to cause trouble...I just want to sit across the street and watch and take some pictures to share with my friends. I have never disturbed filming. And I've never had this problem before.
