As an outsider, as a non-European that's my impression as well. The European model for multiculturalism seems to be failing.

Which model exactly ? France's secularism or Great Britain's multiculturalism ?
There are several models and Europe cannot be seen as on big ensemble under the same ideology on that subject.

Not that I'm against any attacks against ISIS, but couldn't they have done this before? What level of atrocity were they waiting for? Isn't this just arrogant self promotion on their part?

Potentially cut their funding for one. ISIS is alot more media savvy than past iterations, with all their videos and what not. Chances are, they probably have hands in the digital world as well, which is pretty much Anonymous's playground.

I read it was because Paris has a lot of prostitutes. Makes me fear for New Orleans. I don't know why our refugees are being sent there. It's a fun town with plenty of diversions, but it seems like some wicked culture shock for them.

I think it has more to do with the fact that France was bombing ISIS in Syria.

Lots of places in Europe have prostitution, even legal prostitution.

It's a meaningless political gesture. If Obama wants to troll Texas (who don't want them) with all the refugees, he can do it without their permission.

First thing my dad said to me this morning when the topic came up was "Did you hear that these *******s snuck in with the refugees?"

Needless to say after what happened in Paris he is entirely against refugees coming here and he probably isnt alone. Even tho Obama isnt up for reelection if he takes in refugees and forces them on States that dont want them it will be a mess for democrats and if an attack then happens you can bet your ass that a Republican will be in the oval office come January 2017.

So frankly Id rather we let other countries deal with the refugees until after the election. Or let each individual state decide for themselves whether they will take in refugees that way the decision to do so doesnt lie with the president or any single political party. I know its a cold political way of looking at lives in need of help, but this country cant afford 4 years with a regressive war hawk president.

And thats entirely irrelevent to most americans. Sad as it is too many americans get their news from twitter and facebook. They dont check sources and facts and evidence. They were already suspicious of refugees. This attack is making them more suspicious. Some of its just racism. Some of its a lack of information. And some of its due to misinformation. But the fact remains too many Americans react with their gut and not their head and right now they are connecting the dots between the influx of refugees and this attack and thats as far as they are going to look into it. Theyve already decided the refugees arent worth the risk. Itd be politically stupid for the president to ignore this fact and force refugees on states that dont want them.

There never needed to be proof. Merely being associated is enough for some people who already disliked the idea of refugees coming in to have a seemingly valid excuse for it now. Many Europeans were already shaking their heads no before this and now it has given the xenophobes in the US and elsewhere all the more excuse to justify their refusal.
