I hope the movie turns out good. Glad the cast debacle is over, now gotta see how this turns out. I want this movie to be great, but the struggles to this point have me a bit cautious. One could say they have let this cook and haven't rushed it out, while I could also say it feels like a lot of people ended up leaving this project or turning it down. Hopefully this is the movie I want. But I would have been more confident in that analysis like, 3 years ago

It's gonna come down to the script. While I liked WandaVision less than most, I also recognize that it was more of a taste thing for me. The quality of the actors is definitely there.

Relieved that it’s finally over. My thoughts on the cast:

Vanessa Kirby - love her as Sue, she’s a great actress

Ebon Moss-Bacharach - He’s awesome casting for Ben

Pedro and Joseph I’m willing to be open minded about. Far from my first choice, but I’m willing to be pleasantly surprised.

It's gonna come down to the script. While I liked WandaVision less than most, I also recognize that it was more of a taste thing for me. The quality of the actors is definitely there.

The actors don't tend to be a problem for the MCU. Cast almost always is well cast and works. But the fact we have had a director leave the project and seemingly issues over not wanting to pay top talent their going rates and hearing other ones like Adam Driver couldn't connect with the script is frankly, not exactly inspiring. I know it has undergone more rewrites and I hope all those issues are sorted, but I am concerned

I could see Disney going to its usual roster of voice actors for HERBIE--Alan Tudyk (Rogue One), Bill Hader (Lightyear, BB8 in Force Awakens), or Richard Ayoade (Soul),

As for Pascal, he doesn't immediately scream Reed to me, but I tend not to get hung up on these things until I see the final product. I hope he does a good job. But I mean, he is the what.....20th choice for the role? Someone had to take it, I guess

Yeah.....that's true. The fact that all the changes were made could be a very good thing (no pun intended). I'm probably the biggest Pollyanna around, but I see it as them wanting to get this right. They've gone through extended changes after Shakman came on board so I'm gonna stay positive and hope they've worked out all of the kinks and come to a consensus on what everyone thinks is a good script.

I thought Driver would be a terrible choice anyway. LOL

I think they’re here and searchable but they’re hard to find. Sometimes I remember a specific discussion and can find it by searching specific words, but I often give up.

Not sure how the cast reflects that but I disagree. Matt Shakman's work on Wandavision shows he can do period piece well.

Yeah I don't want to be too much of a downer, but Pascal's casting killed a bit of my enthusiasm for an MCU Fantastic Four. I know a lot of people are saying that they'll wait and see him play the part before casting judgement. And I commend them for it. :deadpan:

Maybe recently, but what I like about him and Ebon (I don’t really know enough about the other two to comment) is across their careers, they have played some very different characters in some very different genres. They’re actors who conform themselves to the roles rather than stars who conform the roles to themselves. Pedro isn’t the first person I think of when I think of Reed Richards, but I have confidence that with the right script, director, production design etc., he can become Reed Richards.

Nothing against RDJ, but he didn’t play Tony Stark - he just turned Tony Stark into RDJ, and that worked and probably made Tony Stark more interesting than he was in the comics. But it wasn’t how I pictured Tony Stark prior to the films.

Well, one piece of attention to detail that I am smiling about is Ebon being Jewish which is what Ben is and hopefully that will get brought up even in passing....
