Fantatic Four 2 Name Change

When the title has been made official by Fox as in an announcement I'm sure that the hype will change the name of this board only to the title of the movie....as they do in the other forums...ie: X-men with each title of that franchise...etc.

There was some confusion after photos from the New York Licensing Show popped up online that showed a promo poster with the title "Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer." Was this the official title of the FANTASTIC FOUR 2 or just something used to promote the fact that Silver Surfer would, indeed, be appearing in the film? Well I'm here to lay to rest any debate. Fox has officially titled the film FANTASTIC FOUR AND THE SILVER SURFER. Not good enough for ya? I think they want Silver Surfer in the title because they plan to spinoff the franchise.

Not great, but I can live with it. Better than Attack of the Clones IMO.

I don't hate the title as a title, but I certainly am not happy for what I believe it stands for....and all I have to say on the matter is......looks like the makings of a set up for an SS movie, not an F4 movie.....

Agreed. Given a choice, I'd MUCH rather have it that way than the other way around.

The synopsis has got me looking forward to this in a way I haven't been able up to this point.

I don't know that I'm really a Silver Surfer fan (I've never owned or read any of the standalone SS mags) but I think some of the best FF issues have featured SS.

The REAL SS (not one that would be romantically interested in Sue, but a mysterious harbinger of Doom) could be the key element of a great film if done right (and this synopsis sounds pretty good to me).

I think you and I want the same thing for different reasons. I want SS to be used sparingly because I want the character to maintain his power and mystery.

From what I've seen you post, (please correct me if I'm mis-interpretting) you want the Surfer to be used sparingly so that this will be a(n) FF film rather than a(n) SS film.

Based on this synopsis, I feel more confident than I have that you and I might both get our wish.

I think this is easily a better title than the next chapter stuff...still wish they would have went with "Fantastic 4: Doomsday" but that could be the title of the third one unless they go with "Fantastic 4: The Coming of Galactus."

Regardless, this synopsis if accurate, gives me great feelings inside that maybe Surfer and Doom will confront each other and just maybe Doom will come out on top as the Power Cosmic demi-god with Latveria under his belt, a flowing regal cloak, and now with the power of the Surfer, Richards will meet his DOOM in every sense of the word.

Rather than: "has tea with Susan and describes how difficult it is to be the herald of a world devouring super-being."

I hope so. "Doomsday" is too good a title not to be used. And it's a traditional FF title too.

Uh...I hope not. That would reduce the FF to supporting roles in their own film. Sounds like they're gonna be vying for screen time as it is.
And as great as the Lee/Kirby "Doom-steals-Surfer's-power" story arc was, I think the sight of Doom -even the "full-on Doom" Story has promised- flying about on a surfboard might not work so well in a motion picture.
My guess: He will try to steal the Surfer's power, but be defeated by that attempt.

Interesting development and yet another confirmation of Doom's return. Since Julian McMahon is already filming Nip/Tuck, the third of what is probably a 15 episode shoot, He could possibly be free by August. Along with Michael Chiklis, Fox looks like their clearing the schedules for their participation.

Kel, I know you don't sound very enthusiastic about it but this is what the Lee/Kirby world of the FF was like...many great characters got introduced in the Marvel Universe in that prolific period, starting with the Mole Man, the re-intro of the Golden Age hero Sub-Mariner, Doctor Doom, the Inhumans, Galactus, Silver Surfer, Black Panther, Wyatt Wingfoot, Toomazooma .... OK, I was kidding about that one!

And the really need to latch on to that Doomsday subtitle.
