Fargo - FX Greenlights Limited Series

They focused on his feet when he was talking towards the car, and it looks like he was limping a little. I was thinking he was going to slip while shooting, but I didn't think he'd shoot himself.

Flash forward with Mike Milligan. Excellent. Reminded me of the Season 2 flash-forward where we saw the Season 1 cast come back.

If I had to guess, Zelmare could be Mike's first kill. But on that, figured she would make a comeback. About halfway through the episode, I thought 'Wait, Zelmare is still out there. No way they'd just leave that thread hanging.' And they sure as hell didn't. Very good season. It took awhile to really get going for me compared to Seasons 1 and 2, but this was great. I don't know where I'd rank it right now. I still have Seasons 1 and 2 pretty even with Season 3 right after that, but I think, just right off the bat, I could see Season 4 being placed a bit ahead of Season 3.

I rolled my eyes so hard at
Loy holding a bag of oranges before getting killed. His death coming was already obvious but why does every crime family movie try to pay homage to The Godfather with oranges now? It's so distracting.

It's not one of my favorite seasons of Fargo, but I did really enjoy it, especially the finale and overall the quality of this show overall still remains top notch IMO. Those first two seasons still reign supreme, but as of right now I'd also probably place this a bit above Season 3 as well at least until I can properly revisit them someday.

I just loved the supporting cast in this season a lot more and found quite a few of them to be pretty interesting, well rounded characters and I actually cared a bit for them when they died. Hopefully, we keep getting more seasons of this show and don't have to wait as long as we did for Season 4.

Little frustrated in giving Satchel a homecoming, yet we know he’s Mike... wish they also filmed a new scene with Bokeem.

Loved all of the Josto stuff, along with Orietta’s line about shooting him first.

TOO MANY COMMERCIALS though, ugh.

Solid B- of a finale to an A season.

Lol I'm glad I'm not the only one who was annoyed at the ridiculous amount of commercial breaks this season. I definitely wish they filmed a more satisfying, final scene with Bokeem Woodbine too, but it was cool seeing him again even if it was only very brief.

The commercial breaks seems to be an FX thing, at least from what I've noticed. There'll be a lot of shows- I've seen this happen mostly with Better Things or Always Sunny- where there'll be a commercial break towards the very end, but once the show comes back, there's maybe...30 seconds left. At which point, why bother?

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but unless I missed it, is this the first Fargo season to not use the main theme from the film at all? I know in past seasons it's been used in the finale. In Season 1, it played as we went to credits in the last scene. Season 2, I think we got a snippet of it sometime after Peggy had been arrested and she was thinking about her life and Lou had made a call home, and I know in Season 3 that it played after Nikki and that officer shot and killed each other. But I can't remember if we heard it at all in Season 4.

We got an “Andrew Bird” version sometime in the middle... maybe the episode before East/West.

Yeah, thinking about it, I do wish that it had been a new scene instead of just splicing in footage from Season 2. Even if it was only for a few seconds. Compare that to Season 2's "Palindrome" where we saw Allison Tolman, Colin Hanks, Joey King, and Keith Carradine all come back. Yeah, it was brief and just for a vision of the future that Betsy saw, but it was still a new scene.

Looks like an interview with Hawley proved they did in fact film a voice over and a new scene (taking place in the early 90s) with Bokeem...

Hawley didn’t think either fit - so they changed it to the flashforward (reused footage) scene instead.

Hm. So that would've been post Season 2 with an older Mike? That would've been interesting to see, given where he ended up at the end of Season 2, but I guess in that regard, I'm fine with the reused scene, then.

If we ever get a Season 5, I wonder if we'll ever get another modern-day season. If you think about it, timeline-wise, I think Season 3 is the most recent, unless I'm mistaken.

Because I think you have, in chronological order:
Season 4
Season 2
The Fargo movie
Season 1
Season 3

Yep.

1950-1951 (s4)
1979 (s2)
1987 [film]
2006-2007 (s1)
2010/2016 (s3)

I’m guessing, we'll get a season 5 that takes place around present day or so. Then (a few years later) a season 6, with Bokeem showing mid-90s Mike Milligan.

I would've really liked to see that. Mike is maybe my favorite character in any season of the show and while the coda with reused footage was nice it felt tacked on and obvious even if it was good to have actual confirmation.

Rewatched the finale, liked it more on second watch - ignoring my anticipations and hopes for it.

The whole Cannon reunion does feel necessary now, and his father’s death only drove home his frustration towards the “swap” and his endearment towards Rabbi.

...looks like it'll take place in 2019, to keep on tack with every other season being contemporary / retro.

"When is kidnapping not a kidnapping?" & "What if your wife isn't yours?"

Are two interesting seasonal concepts. I'm hoping we get back to MN with touches of SD/ND and maybe a venture into WI.

Would love some casting of any of these fine folks;

Toni Collette
Timothee Chalamet
Oscar Isaac
Noomi Rapace
Rooney Mara
Lucas Hedges
Gretchen Mol
Alia Shawkat
Callum Turner
Alex Karpovsky

Toni Collette would be great in Fargo, but then again, I love her in everything I've seen her in.
