With The Dark Knight being around for a while, what better time than now to look back at The Joker's many animated appearances over the years. From the very beginning up to today, what moments would you like to share? Have a favorite moment, episode, etc, from the many animated dastardly deeds of the Clown Prince of Crime?
From the DCAU:
One of mine would have to be Joker's death of Superman dance in "World's Finest". The fact that he's dancing around a dying man while tasing him just shows how twisted the clown really is. Granted this is Superman, but still.
Also, I also love the last Joker moment in Mask of the Phantasm ... The clown is defeated, on his knees, missing a tooth, at the mercy of the Phantasm, the entire park exploding behind them ... and he just laughs really hard.
When Joker stalked Charlie Colins in "Joker's Favor" was a fun ride as well. "There's your two cents. Now, what were you going to do to me?"
He called the man 2 years later just to kill him... Good stuff.
In terms of confrontation, it will have to go to the Batman Beyond: Return of The Joker flashback. What Joker and Harley did to Tim was unimaginable, not only did Joker want to kill Batman, but he wanted him to suffer with the psychological pain of seeing Tim turned into a Joker Jr. When he was getting a beating by Batman for that he says "If you don't like the movie...I've got slides." Which made me laugh, but I felt bad for laughing him for that.
No list can be complete without something from "The Laughing Fish". Consider how Joker sets up the spraying of the first half of his chemical Joker compound onto Francis well before Francis says no. The Joker is completely aware that he can't get a copyright for fish. He intended to kill Francis before he even walked into that office. Give a thought about that.
In The Batman
- Joker becoming so obsessed with Batman to the point he's convinced that he IS Batman, dresses up as him, and poisons the real Batman with Joker venom, while delivering his own twisted justice in "The Laughing Bat".
Let's dig into our favorite animated moments with this classic character.
