Favorite Joker artist.

In no particular order:

Whoever did the art for Gothma Central:
Oh man I didn't expect to like this, but I loved it. Joker as he should've looked in TDK imo, like a real person but still bleached.

Michael Lark.

The guy's awesome. He's currently working with Ed Brubaker on Daredevil. Lark does the artwork for Batman: Nine Lives, a crime noir Elseworlds tale. The plot's kinda lackluster, but it's an interesting read. Lark's artwork only makes it better.

Thanks, and I agree he's awesome. I think his work on Gotham Central was one of those things where the art style wasn't there to enhance, his style was necessary, like an unofficial third writer telling the story.

Yea, i agree. The same applies to his work on Nine Lives. I dont see it working without his art. The man needs to do more Batman work.

Also, if you're interested, he does an adaptation of "Little Sister" by Raymond Chandler. The art isn't as polished or detailed as what you see in Gotham Central, but it's still good.

Brian Bolland, the guy draws a Joker I would love to make flesh and blood.

Bruce Timm a close 2nd. As far as characterization goes, he nails every interpretation.

Alex Ross. His Joker causes me to squee every single time. Honest and truly. Out loud and in public, and everything.

Aside from that, I'm also quite fond of Brian Bolland. He does a good job at not making The Joker too much--not too skinny, or not too terribly stretchy. A lot of artists give him a very very very long face, I mean. And I tend to like it when they go the slightly more realistic route--if that makes any sense. Realism and The Joker. Yeah.

Alex Ross

These pictures(which don't do the original art justice)still haunt me to this day.

Any Bat fan NEEDS to pick up his Mythology book.

^Alex Ross really is the best! I'm also quite fond of his infamous picture of Harley and The Joker, together. Is very good stuff. I find him to be quite brilliant.

Some really good artists here, nice to see a Comic artists appreciation thread even if it is for one incredibly crazy character, I'm liking the new batman artist Dustin Nguyen, haven't really seen his joker yet though

McKean. I kind of wish DC had allowed him and Morrison to stick with the original idea of having the Joker cross dress in Arkham Asylum. AA's Joker is great, but I think it would have been a really interesting concept and new interpretation of the Joker.
He does to a certain extent. There's one panel where it looks like he's wearing high heels. It's when Batman throws the ax down at his feet.

I always loved McKean's art and Morrison's writing of The Joker in AA. I also found the transvestite angle to be an interesting one. It's a damn shame we never get a look at The Joker's clothes under the blue trench coat. I wanted to make a Halloween costume based on the AA Joker look.

I can't believe that in 4 pages none of you mooks has mentioned Bill Sienkiewicz

For shame....

I don't think Breyfogle could draw a bad character

Dick Sprang.
Neal Adams. (Although he started that "MAKE THE JOKER SKINNYYYYY" trend, that really turned more and more into absurdity. Look at Alan Davis' Joker)
