Batman has been around for decades. He`s also been in countless stories, which one was your favorite?Mention it here.

So hard to narrow one down or think of all of them.

One of my favorite pre-crisis stories is a standalone called "The Batman Nobody Knows" written by Denny O'Neil. Pencilled by, I believe, Neal Adams.

My single favorite issue would have to be "There's No Hope in Crime Alley". A 70s story by O'Niel and Dick Giordano. It was punished in Detective, but I can never seem recall the issue number.

My favorite arc would have to be The Long Halloween. Although Batman and the Monster Men runs a very close second.

I really liked "War on Crime" Alex Ross and Paul Dini

For me....

Batman - Venom

It was a story that dealt with some real issues. Batman was devasted when he wasn't strong enough to lift that boulder to save the girl. He was haunted by her drowing. He had a moment of weakness and took a performance enhancer it took its toll on him mentally and physically. The Bat bounced back and took care of business. The panel of Batman barraciding himself in the cave and his emergence is haunting.

Batman - Knightfall - Up Until Part 11
I started reading Batman comics about 6 issues before Knightfall began. It was my first major storyline and the first part of it played out so well. Batman's body language and dialogue as the gates of hell opened in Arkham was great. Leading up to the issue he was already in bad shape. The current situation would not help. With each issue capturing the villians would take there toll. The fight between Batman and Bane was tragic. The writing was great in that issue and the flashbacks panels leading up to this moment was great. The line "The blessed relief of ending it all" really stood out to me at that time. I didn't know how I felt about Jean Paul Valley taking over the mantle. I did like the first version of his new costume. But after a while I couldn't wait until Bruce was back in the cowl.

Batman - Gothic

Batman - Blades
I've always been a fan of this story. It was interesting having another "hero" in Gotham. I love the writing to this story as well. The panel where Bats jumps out of the window and saves that person from the burning building is classic. The line "The legend grows" is greatness. The sword fight at the end was also well done.

Batman - The Dark Knight Returns

I was blown away the first time I read this classic. The idea of a 50 year old Batman was classic. I've always enjoyed seeing a hero on their last longs whether it be comics, music, or movies. Seeing that person at the top of their game when things should be winding down for them is epic. Frank Miller did a heck of a job with this story. The fight between the Joker and Batman was greatness. What Batfan doesn't love th moment where the Boyscout...err...Superman is put is his place. Unfortunately the followup was let's just say out there...lol.

My favorite Batman story?

That would have to go to either Heart of Ice or Beware the Grey Ghost. Say what you will about the TAS not being real, those are still my favorite Batman stories of all time.

Well, my favourite has to be Batman: The Long Halloween written by Jeph Leob, where Two-Face's origin was shown but I also like Batman: Year One and Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller. Batman: The Killing Joke and Batman: The Man Who Laughs is also favourite.

The Killing Joke, followed by The Long Halloween.

The Long Halloween, The Dark Knight Returns, Dark Victory and Hush. Sue me, I liked Hush.

Batman, in my opinion, has been one of those characters who's had a lot of great talent work on him. And it's difficult for me to pick just one story that I like over the others.

Frank Miller's Year One and Dark Knight Returns

Jeph Loeb's Long Halloween and Dark Victory

Denny O'Neil's bring Ra's Al Ghul into the Batman stories

Batman the Animated Series...it may not be in comic form but some of those cartoons were better than the comics at the time. :o

Death In The Family

Arkham Asylum

I mean, there's just a LOT of great Batman stories. And I can't pick one. Much like Lay's potato chips...you can't eat just one.

Favorite Batman stories...you can't pick just one.

Ya know, I never really got the appeal of Arkham Asylum. Maybe it was a bit TO weird for me.

Comic story: DKR

Best story overall: Batman: Year One movie script by Darren Aronofsky and Frank Miller.

Gah, I feel weird for saying this, but I've always liked the Prey (1992) storyline by Doug Moench cause it was the first Bat book I ever read, and I was intrigued with the concept of the jealous cop who lived in a superhero's world. That, and DKR, Long Halloween, Killing Joke, and Batman: Year One. In no particular order, of course

Year One beats all for me, although Long Halloween and Arkham Asylum aren't too far behind.
DKR is cool, too.

I'll have to go with DKR too, I just love how angry and mature Miller's Batman is...

But concerning the Batman: Year One script; do you have it? cause I've only read the storyline and not the entire script, would love to get my hands on ut.

I quite like Terror, the sequel to Prey. I think it could be because a lot of it has the look of Batman Returns, especially in particular shots of Catwoman, and I love that film.

In terms of artwork I like Hush as much as Prey.

The Long Halloween combined with Dark Victory. Thats just a great story.
