Favorite Batman Story

The Dark Knight Returns- Frank Miller

Year One- Frank Miller/David Mazzuchelli

The Joker's Five Way Revenge- Denny O'Neil/Neal Adams

The Laughing Fish- Steve Englehart/Marshall Rogers

Hang The Batman- David V Reed/Mike Nasser

Ras Al Ghul Saga - Denny O'Neil/Neal Adams

Death Strikes at Midnight and Three- Denny O'Neil/Marshall Rogers

The Joker's Playground of Peril- Denny O'Neil/Irv Novick

Without question The Joker's Five Way Revenge is my favorite. Year One, Son of the Demon and anything by Brubaker come to mind too.

For me...BATMAN BEGINS is worth a mention. It had a great story, worthy of the great comic tales.

Toss up between TLH and Hush for me.

Hush was a great story. I enjoyed I didn't care for the ending. It did leave a lot of things unfinished. I do love Jim Lee's version of Batman. The writing was great for the story. I love the interaction between Batman and Catwoman. The Batman versus Superman "fight" was classic. You gotta love the line where's Bats says that Superman is the best at what he does but not the best at what I do and then holds up the kryptonite ring.

I think Hush would have been a lot better if they just retitled it "Everyone in Gotham Wears the Same Trenchcoat." :o

why do people hate hush? is it because they wanted it to be jason todd? i thought it was pretty cool, but stupid that someone would go that far just to get revenge for something really dumb. and bruce wayne sure had a lot of friends and adventures in the 8 years before his parents were killed. i kinda knew it was elliot the whole time. why else would bruce remember someone he hadn't seen since he was a kid? if he wasn't the villain why have him there? its my favorite story line right behind dkr and tlh.

My favorite by far is dark victory by jeph loeb and tim sale, but second place would porbably go to the story about the Joker in the very first batman issue ever.

Jason Todd being raised from the dead would have not been a great idea. The best thing about Jason Todd was his death. I know that sounds cold but that is what most fans remember when they think of Jason Todd. I was pretty relieved once I saw the panel where he was revealed to be Clayface.

But Jason Todd was raised from the dead.

That would have to go to either Heart of Ice or Beware the Grey Ghost. Say what you will about the TAS not being real, those are still my favorite Batman stories of all time.

I am so in love with that episode.

Yeah. It was a crappy idea to bring him back, and a crappy way to do it.

However, the story itself was gold. Well, maybe not gold, but silver definitely.

Yeah. I was surprised at how well done it was.

The ONLY thing that erked me.....was the ****ty Talia shoving her tounge down his throat.

I mean...what the ****? Where'd that come from?

The Night Of The Reaper
The Joker's Five Way Revenge
Half An Evil
The Night Of The Stalker

I'll have to go with DKR too, I just love how angry and mature Miller's Batman is...

But concerning the Batman: Year One script; do you have it? cause I've only read the storyline and not the entire script, would love to get my hands on ut.

Should be able to find it online fairly easily.

Really?! I don't read the comics regularly. I'll pick up a storyline every now and then. I am not that familiar with the current continuity. Thanks for the info.

yeah i thought it was kinda cool that a villain would go that far. i really thought jason todd, bucky, gwen stacy and uncle ben would stay dead, but i was wrong about the first 2. i don't really like that they brought todd back, but i do like that he's insane and doesn't know who he really is so he takes on the personas of others.

Do you mean that literally or figuratively? Because he knows full well that he's Jason Todd and he used to be Robin if that's what you meant. I thought what they did with him was really cool, and I liked the story a lot.

both. i know he knows he's jason todd, but he's so messed up.

like the first time we see him he's dressed as hush(i hate that they retconned it so that he and clayface fought bats), then he takes on the red hood persona(the former persona of his murder), now after the crisis he's nightwing(his former "brother's" persona).

i meant it more like he's trying to find a way to bring about vigilante justice in someway, but he doesn't know who to be to successfully do that. i want to know who he's going to be after he's done with being the other nightwing?

The whole Anual sucked pretty hard. I was almost hoping it wouldn't be collected in the TPB. Who cares if we ever know how he came back. Just have it be a mystery. Everyone loves a good mystery.

Yep. Well, there you have it. And as I said in my post above, while the particulars of him coming back sucked quite horribly, the story itself was done quite well, IMO.

Long Halloween
Dark Victory
Drak Knight Returns
Year one
Broken City
The Last Arkham
Monster Men

Just to comment about the Jason Todd lil discussion here I felt they could have done a better job with how he came back but all is good. I loved everything he has appeared in except for Nightwing OYL.

As to my favorite Bat story:
- The Long Halloween
