I don't get the hate for it at all. Not every good film needs to be a masterpiece.

i liked it but i hated the weird rushed ending. Budget maybe/

''Cult'' is an odd way to classify movies.

It can be anything..... Depends on you definition of cult.

Perhaps a cult movie could also be classified as a film that a group of people worship, only to sacrafice themselves for it's awesomeness.

Is Sideways in that category? Worshipped by say, hardcore wine-lovers?

And also, I guess you could classify The Lord of The Rings trilogy as a cult film by that definition. It was a ****ing HUGE boxoffice hit, and I don't quite associate that with cult for some reason.

I think cult following is normally a film or a type of film that attracts a niche market that is praised by certain people who worship it.

I.e. Evil Dead.

Sideways I would say is an indie film at heart I think because of it's subject matter and the way in which it brings the characters, I could be wrong though.

I dunno if that's "cult" but among indie movies Thank you for smoking (with the über-charismatic Aaron Eckhart) is one of my favourites...:gray:
