Just as the thread title says, post your favorite fighting games ever. I love all kinds of fighters, but my heart belongs to these three in particular:

And at 29 years old I can confidently say I can still kick anyone's a** in either.

I played a lot of the same games growing up, haha. I played a loooot of fighting games as a kid but these were some of my favorites

- Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of The Superheroes
- Super Smash Bros 64
- Tekken 3
- X-Men vs. Street Fighters
- Super Smash Bros Melee
- X-Men: Mutant Academy

Real Bout:Fatal Fury 2
Samurai Showdown 2
Darkstalkers 3
Street Fighter 3
Injustice: Gods Among Us

Our childhood was the GOLDEN AGE of fighting games. Good ones, great ones, sucky ones, and it was like one came out every other week. Good list.

I could take you down in Tekken 3 though with Jin lol.

Samurai Showdown 2
Darkstalkers 3
Street Fighter 3
Injustice: Gods Among Us

The original version of 3 doesn't get as much praise it should. It's still a marvelous game.

Does anyone remember Bushido Blade?

Right? Nowadays they don't make as many fighters and the stuff we do get? MvC:I and SFV. Both terrible games. I miss the old days

And I dunno about that, man. My Ling was on point :smgs:

Tekken 3 and 5, Tekken Tag, X-Men Mutant Academy 1 and 2, MVC 2, Soul Calibur 2 and 3 and MK9.

Good memories of King of Monsters 2 on Genesis. Loved SF 2 at the arcade. Played some X-men: Children of the Atom at the arcade as well.

Currently, Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is my jam.

Do you guys remember this PS1 gem called Bloody Roar?

I’m so late but I never knew they made sequels to this. I loved this game lol.

I don't know what you are talking about. We are kind of in another fighting game renaissance. Now, Capcom is having some stumbles, sure. But there is such a wide variety of fighting games out there. And Evo continues to get bigger and bigger. ArcSystemWorks is doing amazing work. Bandai is doing great. Crossplay is starting to propagate. Online is good on some games.

Played the Gamecube one. It was okay.

Forgot about probably my most favorite one, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee. So fun, with all the city destruction. Pity the Wii followup wasn't quite as good, even if the roster was amazing.

Seriously the base SFV game was trash. Then I hate the whole dlc/pay as you play thing that these fighting games have now. MVC:I had no X-Men so you know i wasn’t feeling it.

And Ling? I’m well versed in every Kazama. Jin, Mama Jun, Cousin Asuka, all of em lol.

CoTA was so fun at the arcade. Same with Marvel Super Heroes.

What are some of the newer games, school me because we need fighting games to be resurgent. Sucks about Capcom because to me they were the gold standard of fighting games.

Them and Sega because of Virtua Fighter of course.

Like I said, Evo is getting bigger and bigger every year. And it isn't just Street Fighter and Smash fueling it. 7/9 games at Evo this year had over a thousand entrants.

Tekken 7 is going stronger than ever. Soul Calibur 6 and Samurai Showdown had impressive returns. Dragonball FighterZ is still popular. Mortal Kombat had a huge release. King of Fighters 14 is still somewhat popular, with 15 in development. Dead or Alive seemed to have a well received release, one of the controversial absences at Evo. You then have the anime fighters. Blazblue is going strong, with CrossTag getting a huge new update soon, with a very large, and very weird roster. Guilty Gear is popular, and a new game coming out next year. Under-Night In Birth, or UNIST, is a growing cult game, and is even getting a new version of the last game. Even Skullgirls just got a new release. Granblue VS seems to have the weebs all hot and bothered.

And there are smaller titles too. I know of Fighting EX Layer and Blade Strangers. I just really know a lot of what I am made aware of by a streamer I watch.

Of course, there is also Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid, which is my favorite. Good game if you are craving some Marvel-like craziness.

TEST YOUR MIGHT!!!!

Trying to think of other specific games that stand out to me as I have mostly chopped and changed between fighting game series. Loved both Injustice games so won't bother to mention them.

(Including this as well which I know isn't strictly a fighting game but the vs. mode that allowed you to pit any of the two jedi/sith characters against each other was the best thing about the game and kept me playing it long after I had completed the story)

Street Fighter II
Tekken 2
Soul Calibur IV
Marvel vs Capcom 2

I know everyone (myself included) loves Turtles in Time, but do you remember this fighting gem from TMNT? Tournament Fighters? I was more partial to the SNES one, but I remember little Shinobi was excited over getting to play as Casey and April in the Genesis version lol.
