I'd have to say Oldman is mine.

Sorry for making 3 threads. This site has been going super slow for me. I guess I clicked something 2 times too many. I pmed a mod to delete to of them.

I think Pat Hingle was a perfect Gordon based on the Golden Age orignal version of the character, an affable, likeable, slightly gruff and composed character.

However, Gary Oldman is beyond perfect as the more traditional version of Gordon. Not only does he look spot on, but he brings a vulnerability to it. of course, we should rememeber that Oldman has a much bigger and better defined and written role than any other Gordon. Gordon is a supporting character in the Nolan films, whereas the other Gordons are basically there to call in Batman when the **** hits the fan.

Gary Oldman.

I liked Pat Hingle fine in B89, he did the job as required. It's very Golden Age, a pretty much unimportant character who doesn't really know how to handle the Batman phenomenon, but ends up putting his trust in him. The movie didn't call for any collaboration between Batman and the police, so no relationship was established between Batman and Gordon, which is okay. It would have been nice if something more was built from the foundation layed in B89, but it never happened. Gordon was almost entirely absent from BR (which is a movie I absolutely adore, but has too many character arcs for its own good) and in BF and B&R he was simply played as a baffoon, a stock character used only to deliver some exposition in a VERY perfunctory manner.

The Gordon character from TAS was alright, but never really clicked with me for some reason. I liked that they played him as a real character, putting him in danger sometimes (episodes like Heart of Steel and What is Reality) and giving him true emotions (Over the Edge), but all in all he didn't have that much to do and was often portrayed as not being the sharpest knife in the drawer. This of course served as a means to get a lot of story explained quickly for the kids watching the show, but it's kinda disappointing. Especially cause he takes a lot more cues from recent interpretations of the character (DKR and 90ies comics) than Hingle's Golden Age Gordon, but never realised the potential. But hey, we should still be very glad with what we got, for a saturday morning cartoon, the characterisation of TAS was unparalleled.

Gary Oldman's Gordon is exactly how I want the character however. A complete lift from "The Long Halloween" and "Dark Victory", this is an honest cop trying against all odds to do his best in a hopeless city. I'm glad there's not more "Year One" Gordon in him, which I found too depressing a character (cynical, riddled with self-doubt, contemplating suicide, cheating on his pregnant wife). He wasn't used that much in BB, which was too bad simply because Oldman plays him SO well, but on the other hand, more Gordon wasn't exactly needed. There is a need for more of him in TDK, so it's great to hear he's so expanded upon in that movie. Oldman plays him as smart, trusting but not gullible, compassionate and completely in the thick of it. Simply love it!

Oldman is the best Gordon. He brings a fantastic range to the character and he looks exactly like Gordon from the comics.

I don't have a thing against Hingle in B89 and BR, but Oldman has to win.

Oldman is just brilliant in this role. His performance in TDK was outstanding and one of the best things about the movie. So Oldman it is for me.

Gary Oldman, no contest.

What's your favourite type of ice cream?

A - Infinite supplies of ifinite varieties
B - No ice cream at all, just a kick in the balls

I actually liked Gordon's portrayal in TAS quite a bit. Especially how he and Batman have almost become too use to each other and have New Years Eve dinner/breakfast together every year. And then it allowed for some really good episodes like Over the Edge.

With that said, Gary Oldman is far and away the best Gordon. He is an honest cop in a corrupt town who is trying his best to clean up the city and his rise to leadership and strength in TDK was done straight-faced and believable. But most of all you REALLY like Gordon. Probably more than any character in the movie. So those final scenes where he is being put in that impossible situation by Two-Face is truly painful because a) it sucks to see Dent put his friends in that position and being that far gone and b) Gordon being so powerless to help his family and facing his shortcomings with saving Rachel...

very powerful scene. As is the final speech that Oldman delivers.

In what episode does Gordon and Batman have new years eve dinner/breakfast??

Urgh, that's not very good. I also imagined Batman to be too paranoid to ever let anyone (Even Gordon) get that close to him.
Oh, and Gary Oldman is the best Gordon.

You know the wrong Batman :hehe:

One of my favorite moments in TAS, so I would disagree. :0

In live action terms, it's not even close. Absolutely hated what was done to Gordon in the first four movies. In these Nolan films, especially Dark Knight, Gordon is so important. And Oldman plays him wonderfully.

Oldman, without a doubt. I can't even recall how the actors who played Gordon in the old movies even look. they have developed Gordon so well in the Nolan version, and have a great actor protraying him
