Favorite Stand-Up Comedians?

Mitch Hedberg sucks.
Carlos Mencia sucks.
Nearly every chick comedian sucks.
It's cool to think Dane Cook sucks, even though he clearly doesn't. What with him being the largest comedian ever, he obviously isn't good:rolleyes.
All of the people that come from Blue Collar Whateverthe**** suck.

Jim Gaffigan is amazing
Ray Romano is amazing
Frank Calliando is pretty good.
Demetri Martin is ok.
Stephen Lynch gets old after a few times listening to him, but he's still good.

Then theres probably about 20 of the recent "comedy central presents" people I can't remember the names of that I found pretty funny.

But seriously, how can people honestly think Carlos Mencia, any of the BCT people or Mitch Hedberg are even remotely funny.

Edit; Nick Swardson is hillarious.

I mean if Richard Pryor is not on your list, something is seriously wrong with you.

Jerry Seinfeld, Eddie Murphy (Delirous possibly the funniest stand up act ever), George Carlin, Rex Navarette, Dave Chappell, more...

Overrated by unintelligent teenagers who lack identity.

George Carlin.

Yeah, right. Just because Dane Cook is the most popular comedian around and is making some serious money for himself doesn't make him overrated. He's in the position he deserves to be in. I mean, if he's making people laugh, he's doing his job well. And he's making A LOT of people laugh.

The guy is talented. Is he the most talented in the business? Hell no. He cracks me up, and I've been a fan since before he got huge like he is now.

Others that I love:
Demetri Martin.
Jim Gaffigan.
Pablo Francisco.
Lewis Black.
Mitch Hedburg.
Brian Regan.
Jerry Seinfeld.

Dane Cook is the most popular comedian around because his act is designed to make money by appealing to the younger, high school aged audience, which right now, is the largest consuming market in the world. Thats why he's getting movie deals, HBO specials, and the sort. It's not because hes talented (Brittney Spears, NSYNC, etc.), but because he makes money, and thats all that matters. So his act's not all too witty, and not all too funny either. But, as I said, it's designed to appeal to immature high school students, so I guess to some, he is funny.

Comedians like George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Lewis Black, Jim Gaffigan. Thats where its at.

Lee Evans, Peter Kay, Al Murray, Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy

Bill Hicks
George Carlin
Richard Pryor
Mitch Hedberg
Dane Cook is both unfairly popular and unfairly criticized. I despise the majority of his fanbase, but the dude gets a lot of flack that's undeserved. While he's not the greatest comedian EVAR, and he doesn't actually tell jokes, his delivery and the whole "Hey, I'm just the cool, charismatic buddy that EVERYONE wants to have at a party because I can make any story funny or cool" shtick is pretty good and makes what would be an unfunny routine pretty entertaining. But he does have some stinkers as well.
Stephen Lynch
Sam Kinison
Dave Attell (or however you spell it)

Jimmy Carr
Lee Evans
Jack Dee
Peter Kay
Billy Connolly
Bill Bailey
Ed Byrne

Okay, so you're saying that since Dane Cook's act appeals to a younger audience and that he is making a lot of money, that makes him a bad comedian?

Dane Cook has done what nearly ever other popular comedian does: he put out a couple of CDs that really put him on the map, had his own comedy specials, is getting movie deals, and goes on tor and performs in large venues. However, he's also utilized the internet, which has helped him greatly and tons of other comedians have jumped on that bandwagon.

Are you telling me that George Carlin hasn't made comedy CDs? And been in a bunch of movies (some pretty horrible ones, at that)? Or had his own HBO specials and ****? Same goes for Richard Prior, and look at what Lewis Black is starting to do now. He's had HBO specials, tours, and now he's starting to get into some ****ty movies (Accepted, Unaccompanied Minors).

The only difference between these guys and Dane Cook is that right now, Dane Cook is more popular and is probably making more money (plus Richard Prior is dead and Georgle Carlin has been around a lot longer than Dane so they don't count).

All comdians have different styles and appeal to difference audiences. That's why people like different comedians and have different comedy tastes.

Sad thing is, he hasn't written a new joke since then either :o
