Favourite Moment In Secret Wars

Seconded.

But I think my absolute favourite is when the symbiote first crawls up Spidey's arm, then turning the page we see Spidey in black. That was iconic as all hell:ninja::word::woot:

One of the top ten moments in Spider-Man history. Easily. :spidey:

That is another good moment, although in hindsight now I only think of the conveluted mess Venom, Carnage, and symbiotes would become a good twenty years later.

Plus, Julia Carpenter never gets enough credit for having the basic design first (Spidey originally based it around hers, not the other way around). :p

Good point

Spidey Vs X-Men as stated already, but also Spidey owning Titania was great.

I thought Spidey vs. The X-Men was grossly unrealistic.

Spidey is usually written like a chump because HE IS A CHUMP. He's my favorite superhero, but he can't hold a candle to Wolverine, Colossus, and other X-Men in terms of power.

You're crazy. Back in the day, Spidey was easily one of the best hand-to-hand fighters around.

I remember reading that when it came out. I was both a Spidey & an X-Men fan. I can remember thinking to myself that was how it would probably play out. Reading it now, in 2007, is a very different experiance.

Yeah, I know. As a Spider-Man fan its really depressing just how much a breath of fresh air it is when he kicked some ass over in the Initiative.

I finally got around to reading the original Secret Wars, and really enjoyed it. Which moment or scene was your favourite?

The ending.[/Elijya]

No but seriously, it's hard to choose one.

Spidey has been know for taking out characters much more powerful than himself like Juggernaut, on the other hand he's occasionally been beaten by people like Stiltman on a bad day.

I kind of liked the whole scene with a smiling Thor standing out in the storm. "Rain hitting like .44 caliber bullets" or something to that effect.

The Hulk got choked out by a snake once. Every character has poor performances.

He was never (or should've never been) on Wolverine's level. Spider-Man is a completely self-taught, untrained 20 something. Wolverine is trained in just about every possible discipline of hand to to hand and weaponed combat. Wolverine should be able to take him out based on that.

Then you have Colossus at class 100 strength, Cyclops, with Optic freakin' blasts, Storm with weather control abilities, and you're saying it's realistic to have Spidey win?

Spidey was INCREDIBLY overwritten during the 80s. He beat a herald of Galactus. That's ridiculous. He was never intended to be The best; that's what his appeal was. I mean yeah, he beats his own villains, but on the larger scale of Marvel, all of his villains are weak. You put Carnage or Venom against Kang or Ultron...and they're dead.

factor in that spidey is about 20 times faster, stronger, agile(r) and has precog abilties and he simple destroys wolvie.

As many have said spidey owning the xmen is the best bit.

I understand the story needs to keep spidey at talented amateur level but on his A game he kicks far far far more butt than is ever shown.

Spider-Man is not 20 times faster, stronger, or more agile than Wolverine. Wolverine's agility, speed and strength surpass Captain America's. he's maybe 3 times more agile than Wolverine. Wolverine along with Captain America are the two most trained combatants in marveldom. Him lose to Spidey is pathetic. Besides Wolverine isn't the only person who Spider-Man was fighting.

I'm sorry, Spider-Man should NOT beat the X-Men. That's ****ty writing. There are individual members of the X-Men who can hand Spider-Man his ass, many times over; the idea of Spidey beating all of them is absurd.

IMO the low point of a lame series designed to sell crappy toys. A lot of you people complain about the Infinity War, Civil War, House of M; well you want to know where it started? Secret Wars.

Spidey is about 20-25x as strong as Wolverine and is 15x as fast as human optimal. Wolverine may be twice as fast as human optimal. As for skill, Spidey has superhuman coordination as well as his speed. This means that he can easily perform physical feats that others take years to learn and even things that others can never learn to do. Spidey has fought martial arts trained opponents before and can easily do anything he has seen them do. Marvel has said that he is highly skilled in hth in addition to his powers. In a fight in Berlin Spidey and Wolvie both went berserk and went at each other on the ground within arms reach. Spidey hit Wolvie at will, Wolvie couldn't touch Spidey at all. With Spidey's speed and strength, if he wanted to kill, he could simply slap Wolvie's head right off of his shoulders and Wolvie would never even see it happen.

Oy, again with the Spider Man vs. Wolverin shctick. Soon Horrorfan and SuperMarvelMan and others will crawl out of the woodwork. :(

Wolverine has an adamantium skeleton...he couldn't knock wolverine's head off.

The Hulk couldn't knock his head off.

If you'd read any comics recently, you'd realize Wolverine is damn near invincible. He's had his skin and musculature blown clear off his body, and had regrow with in minutes. It's just a matter of Wolverine eventually getting a hit then Peter's dead.

The only good argument there is for Peter beating Logan is if Peter never stops moving. If Logan got a hold of him, he'd be helpless.

The adamantium bones may not break but the non adamantium tendons( or is it ligaments?) that hold bones together would and so would the spinal cord. The head is not held on by adamantium.

Actually,... Spiderman getting the symbiont.

That was the best part probably.

The Symbiote was cool, and Doctor Doom syphoning the Beyonder's powers was awesome...but Secret War is like a bonus dungeon in a video game...it's fun but unnecessary.

I can't believe I'm doing this...:(
616 Wolverine isn't bound by the same rules that Ultimate Wolverine is. In the regular universe Wolverine has the mysterious power of having adamantium laced everything in his skeleton. Otherwise his various bones would have been blown away by Nitro when he left nothing but the skeleton. Yet, it didn't happen. And, Logan HAS been subjected to blows that should have decapitated him or torn off a limb or ripped him in half and it still hasn't happened.

My favorite part of secret wars was the complete lack of periods! The entire thing is punctuated by commas, question marks, and exclamation points!
