Fear Itself- Genesis of a Haunted Attraction

So we're talking the classics like Wolfman and Frankenstein's Monster right? Can't imagine you could get away with Freddy or something like that.

why?... most haunted houses tend to have "jason" running around

(Cryptic) There are some who say that Freddy, Jason, and Michael are the modern equivalants of the classic monsters. (Cryptic)

Update 10 July 2009

Man, what a crappy day.

No one shows up to the first volunteer session, then I get a call telling me that I was supposed to have flight level training today. My flight chief goes BALLISTIC on us (even though NOBODY was informed and NOBODY showed up.)

Once that fiasco's done with, I return to the dorms and toss my clothes, including all my uniforms into the wash. Not ten minutes later, I get a phone call from someone else on flight telling me I need to be at Commander's Call in ten minutes. AGAIN, NO ONE INFORMED ME IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM. No e-mail, no text, nothing. And now my Flight Chief is pissed at me... again... because I couldn't go.

Anyway, sorry about the rant.

As a bonus, the first teaser video is up.

Enjoy.

Ah I see, I know people who do their own random scary houses do whatever they want, but I thought since yours was with an organization you'd have to deal with copyright issues or something. That's cool though.

Hmm, I keep getting the idea of a sick, twisted circus as a theme for the entire house, implementing darkness and gore throughout the whole thing, but I understand the separate rooms. Would be cool if you start the clown room as empty and then slowly have them come out of the woodwork, maybe set up their area like sick sideshow booths, maybe one hanging the ringleader. An all dark room would have been cool with sound effects and something like a maze.

UPDATE 6 July 2009

During a quiet moment on post today, me and my partner went to check out the house we hope to get for the attraction. Due to size constraints, I've decided to cut the following scenes;

Fear of Spiders
Fear of the Dark
Fear of Being Alone

The darkness thing really hurts, but we just have no room.

House storyline is coming along nicely and you can look for the first teaser video in the next few days.

Today's clue is the name of the room where I will exploit the Fear of Clowns.

The Circus of Slashers

You know you didn't have to cut Fear of being alone and the dark? You could have mixed them together.

It's still a room issue. There's just not enough room for those scenes.

I may have to cut the Fear of Death room, but I REALLY don't want to.

Update 14 July 2009

Using my bedrest after my tooth surgery, I've been working on the house's rough draft. I'm also looking into making a website.

'Caring for Cops' meeting today, so I'll update if anything comes up.

Update 15 July 09

Currently building the web-site (tougher than I expected) and working on the second teaser vid.

Really hard to focus while on all these meds.

Then again, meds usually produce some interesting results.

Long Time No Update
26 July 09

Nothin' much to report. Props are on their way from my friend's parents house.

That's about it....

Oh! And the treatment is finished. I'll be posting it soon.

Cool beans, you should post pics of the more interesting props.

Update 14 August 2009

Long Time No Update. Ladies and gentlemen, I am proud to present THE VERY FIRST ROUGH DRAFT TREATMENT!

I give you... DR. PHOBIA'S HOUSE OF FEAR.

The Entrance
Guests enter through the double doors of the house, haunted by the sounds within. Before them, in the darkness, is a portal made of blood-stained sheets. Bloody hand-prints cover it, and written in the center is ‘WHAT ARE YOU AFRAID OF?’ The guests push through the portal and further into the house. Glowing arrows on the floors lead the guests through each scene.

TormenT
Cryptic chants surround the guests. Before them is a young woman in torn clothing, tied between two pillars. She screams and pleads for help, warning the guests to turn back. The guests continue past her and under a crudely constructed arch, hanging from which are all manner of human arms and legs, still dripping blood. Pushing past the grisly display and find an even worse scene; Lined up along the sides of the guest’s path are red-robed Cultists, still and silent. At the end of the path is a sacrificial altar, upon which is tied a screaming victim. Standing over him is the High Priest, Silas. The room is lit by flickering torches hanging from the ceiling. As the guests approach, the Highest brings down a knife and cuts open the victim’s chest. He reaches inside and pulls out the still-living victim’s heart. At this point, one of the Cultists leaps at the guests. The guests continue , turning left at the altar.

Insanity
The guests enter a room lit by a flickering strobe light. Large pieces of white construction paper cover the walls, scrawled on with finger-paints and crayons. A TV in the corner plays old cartoons, creating an unsettling music in the back-ground. Tables fill the room, covered in a variety of board games and puzzles. The room is filled with inmates in a whole manner of activities. The inmates are completely random and insane. There’s no telling who or when they’ll attack. Rebecca leads her ‘family’ in their attack until you pass through the portal into the next room; another ripped and dripping wet sheet.

Eternal Monsters of Filmland
The hall you enter is black on one side with a row of doors on the other. In each door is a different movie slasher. The first door is pitch black with a strobe going off. Jason Voorhees lurches out to make a grab or a slice with his machete. The second door is also black with a strobe. Freddy Kruger attacks from here. The third door leads to a pitch black room. A light flashes from a helmet as the Miner (My Bloody Valentine) attacks, chasing the guests into the next room.

The Dead Have Risen
The guests find themselves in a narrow pathway bordered by chain-link. On either side, a number of zombies attack the fence relentlessly. The guests finally make it out from between the fencing, only to be attacked by a last zombie, free of his confinement. He chases the guests into the next room.

Creepy Crawlies
The guests enter a narrow hallway, lit by a flickering strobe. The sounds of skittering and crawling are everywhere. The light illuminates the walls covered in all manner of insects and arachnids. Spiders and snakes hang from the ceiling, writhing and crawling. As the guests proceed, they can hear and feel crunches beneath their feet. They escape the hallway, passing under an arch with dangling spider webs, only to enter a far more dangerous setting.

Bloody Bill's Butcher Shop
The flickering industrial lighting lets the guests know that this is one place they should not be. Their attention is grabbed by the very large Bloody Bill, screaming and wielding a huge cleaver. As they pass his counter, another butcher lurches at the guests. A third butcher bursts from a pile of random body parts. The guests continue to rush through the room, and are herded outside by a final, masked butcher wielding a chainsaw. Little do the guests realize how foreboding this final scare is…

The Circus of Slashers
Now outside, the guests are guided into a large tent painted in bright, happy colors. A sinister ringmaster lures the guests into the tent’s entrance, leading into a trap. The guests are immediately set upon by blade-wielding clowns that laugh wildly as they attack, the guests turn a corner and run straight into chainsaw wielding clown. He cackles and chases them out of the tent.

The Gauntlet
The Guests freeze. The glowing arrows stop, leading into a thick fog bank. Slowly and nervously, the guests head into the fog and are set-upon by a random assortment of the fears that they experienced in the house. The monsters chase the guests toward the end. Sometimes, Dr. Phobia himself can be sighted in the fog, his ghastly eye visible. At last, the guests escape the fog. They have faced their fears… and survived the house.

Remember, comments are needed and appreciated.
Next Update will probably be the start of Dr. Phobia's backstory.

Wow... long time... no update...

Well, due to budget constraints, I was told that my design was too grandoise.

Due to our prop-source's under-age drinking, she's on her way out of the AF and unable to get us the props.

It seemed that the house would crumble... but not this year.

I've successfully redesigned the entire house. Everything. It'll be a guided tour now with 7 scenes. The gore has been all but cut instead focusing on atmosphere and jump scares.

People were never really crazy about the Cult room, but the loss of the Butcher room is sorely felt. A plus, however, is that I've been able to bring back the Fear of the Dark room (heavily redesigned) and added a brand new Claustrophobia room.

Well, what little bonus can I add here... Ah! The first part of the sad, strange tale of our host...

Lawrence Phineas Orion was born October, 31 1983 to Maxwell Philips Orion and Alison Ruby Orion. For the first six months of his life, nothing of consequence occurred. Then, unexpectedly, his mother died in a freak accident, leaving him alone with his father. Maxwell was emotionally shattered and not fit to raise his infant son alone. The older he grew, Lawrence began to have crippling night-terrors. Paralyzed by his fear of the darkness, he could not function. Frustrated, Maxwell sent his son away to boarding school from age 6 to 18.
Upon graduating (with honors), Lawrence moved far away from home. Very soon, he was in debt due to his constant need to have every light on in his apartment at all times. Obsessed with his fear, Lawrence aided in illegal activities in order to keep his bills paid and fund his online schooling. The human mind obsessed him, specifically people's fears and what caused them. Several months later, word reached him that his father had taken ill and asked for him.
While in a medicated stupor, Maxwell told Lawrence the trigger of his fear; when he cried as an infant, and his father could take it no more, he was locked away in a pitch-black closet. The constant exposure to long periods of pitch blackness all alone twisted his burgeoning psyche into his present fears.
Lawrence returned home with his new theory; that every fear has a sub-conscious trigger inlaid at an early age. He believed that if one faced their fears head-on, they could conquer them. With this in mind, Lawrence Orion plunged himself into the darkness. What emerged was not the same man.

Well, that's it. Thanks to to the friggin' politics of this base run by children, my haunted house is dead. Dead dead dead...

Basically, another squadron went to the Wing Commander and got permission to take our house because "They had it last year and thus should get first picks."

So, I now don't have enough time to find another location and do another redesign. Once again, it all falls apart.

Ah well, better luck next year.

That sucks, but it seemed like you had something nice planned. You'll eventually get to do it, and it'll be as fun as you hoped.
