Watch the Reminiscence feature on Disc 1. It's a synopsis of the entire FF7 game.

I tried, but it was still confusing. But I got some more info in the Video Game section, the one thing I ain't clear on is what are " AVALANCHE " ??

AVALANCE was the rebel group fighting against the Shinra corporation and their turning of the Lifestream into an energy source.

Eventually they became the group that fought against Sephiroth to save the world.

The group included Cloud and friends.

Yeah... big fan of all the fainal fantasy games. Didnt finish 7 though. Did with all the rest though

I just watched the movie. Really liked it, some awesome action. I also loved the music that came on when Sephiroth arrived.

One Winged Angel. My favorite FF Track.

I love how One Winged Angel has evolved over the years.

The original version, the orchestral version, and now the orchestral/rock version featured in the movie.

The music in all of the FF games is great. By the way, Dirge Of Cerberus, is it a game or movie.

Good news. Final Fantasy VII is topping the DVD charts. It outsold numerous new releases of theatrical films and is even doing better than King Kong on Amazon.

Congrats to Square Enix:

Aeon Flux Tops the DVD Charts
Source: The Hollywood Reporter May 4, 2006

Paramount Pictures Home Entertainment's Aeon Flux, starring Charlize Theron, topped both the DVD sales and rental charts for the week ending April 30. A boxoffice underperformer ($25.9 million domestic gross against a budget estimated at $55 million), the film scored an easy victory on VideoScan's First Alert sales chart.

Sony Pictures' Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, a Japanese anime film based on the best-selling video game of the same name, finished a strong No. 2. The computer-animated movie was produced in 2004 and released directly to video by Sony on April 25 in a lavish two-disc special edition.

"Final Fantasy" beat several new theatricals on the DVD sales front its first week in stores, including fellow debutantes Tristan & Isolde (No. 4), from 20th Century Fox (No. 4); Woody Allen's Match Point (No. 7), from DreamWorks; and Buena Vista's Casanova (No. 8).

On Home Media Retailing's rental chart, Aeon Flux earned an estimated $7.56 million, or nearly one-third its theatrical gross, to bump Sony's Fun With Dick and Jane out of the top spot it has held for the past two weeks.

Does anyone think Square Enix made the wrong move in NOT releasing this in theatres? Not a huge release, but I bet if they released it in like 500 screens nationwide, they could've made some money.

not the dubbed, no way.

but perhaps the subs in an arty theatre.

the thing about game players is that it's hard to get them out of the house to buy them an dvd, let alone to an arty cinema

Judging from these sales its not hard to get them to buy a DVD.

Well people are getting out of the house to buy the DVD's.

Well I ordered my DVD.

But I still had to go out of the house to pick it up at the customs office. -_-

which seems to be getting mixed results (which i'm quite surprised by actually).

saying this, i didn't have all the game history to deal with.

to be fair, although some will say it's a stand alone film, it does require a back history to get it properly and maybe this was a problem with releasing it straight to the cinema.

That and the fact that Spirits Within bombed horribly. So they didn't want to take the risk again.

To one of the most popular games of all time.

And that's why I call for a limited release. Not like 4,000 theatres.

gamers aren't cinema goers, or repeat cinema goers.

if the majority of the money is to be made from dvd sales, why just cut ouf the middle man and get people buying it rather than watching it, deciding they don't want it and not purchasing it later on.

it's far less risky to just put it up as a dvd in the first place to make sure the sale is obtained.

I think you'd have non-gamers seeing it as well, if just for the pretty animation.

It's an amazing technical achievement.

What format will Dirge of Cerberus be released on? Cerberus was a GF in 8 wasnt he?
